Michael Zwaagstra: Liberals being hypocritical on plastics ban.
And, since everyone is doing the whole year in review, here’s the biggest energy story in Saskatchewan for 2025:
Saskatchewan to rebuild its coal fleet, despite federal regulations calling for its demise
This was the biggest story in Saskatchewan’s energy sector in 2025, by a wide margin. Even the Premier agreed, when asked about it in December. Saskatchewan to rebuild its coal fleet, despite federal regulations calling for its demise. It’s my understanding we should see Boundary Dam Unit 4 returned to service soon in the new year. It was retired under the federal coal regulations, but continually brought back into service because, guess what, we needed it. About a year ago it was finally disconnected, only to be called back to service now.

I can’t be given a plastic bag for my groceries but I can buy a box of them for domestic garbage, which the plastic grocery bags used to be used for (so not single use). And where are these regulations when it comes to the single use plastic cups used by Starbucks and others, cups that litter the landscape after their single use? Yes, I am looking for Liberal logic where none can be found, but hope springs eternal that the new year may offer some
“Liberal logic” is an oxymoron (with emphasis on ‘moron’).
FILTHY LIBERALS
Hate Coal, beautiful Coal.
You will regret inviting the Marxist Phagtopia of Nuclear to your Province. The Toxic OPG culture is the UN with a side of Gaza, and Gay Indians.
You have to cross a Gay Sex Sidewalk, after you Salute the Gay Sex Flag at the main entrance. The rainbow clashes with the Fake Graves orange shirts these Depraved Marxists wear.
FILTHY LIBERALS
Back on the meds Filthy Liberal!!
I knew a guy like you in Scotland….we called him Half Daft Dave.
You’re more like 80% daft.
The strategy of the Liberals makes perfect sense. They KNOW coal is a necessity at the present. HOWEVER, they, also, know (or maybe it’s just serendipity) that businesses thrive in stability, and being able to parse out what the future will bring. A business cannot thrive in uncertainty. And any industry that doesn’t know if they will be allowed to exist two years (or even one year) down the road is not going to be able to operate at its best efficiency or profitability. They aren’t going to take risks.
It’s not as profitable or sustainable a venture because its not allowed to be one. Liberals (in all countries) love to do this as a sense of control on many different industries.
Just a quick reminder that the ban on plastic straws originates with a 15-year-old’s science fair project, and he made up the numbers.
Remember the Turd with the puffball question re drinking boxes? A classic.
When cheap reliable energy ,makes the peons immune to government mandates?
Make it pointlessly expensive.
Our technological civilization is based on reliable affordable electricity..
Todays unstable grids, high priced electricity are proof.
By their actions you shall know them.
Electrical generation has gone from a “Common good” carefully managed and maintained,to a cash cow, there to be pillaged, taxed and “fee-ed” by the parasitic overload.
These corrupt practises have become the norm, robbing the many,to reward the well connected few.
Utilities,as we know them, have become an agency of government theft..
To the point that any semi competent citizen can generate their own power, more cheaply than that they purchase from the Government controlled Utility.
If President Trump manages to bring oil prices down, private generators will become very popular..
Because there will be no reduction in the Utility Price per kW/h..
Nor will there be any reduction in the “Riders,Fees and other levies” added to your bill.
“The torture never stops”..
Government,as in the bureaus, cannot stop stealing or lying.
Waste Destruction and Insult…”We are here to ‘help’ you”.
