What all 2,000 battle ready soldiers? They better be great toys. All of NATO could field at best two divisions with no interoperability. Russia would waste them in a day if they got serious. The Americans hit Iraq in the first Gulf war with 30 divisions or better. NATO minus the US is a charade. Actually, a bureaucracy is closer to the truth.
My kids are of the age where they would be expected to serve. With the state of this country and the way it has treated them, their collective response will be F you! Why would they fight for something they despise?

Well equipped, able and competent solders are not what the elites in the west are concerned of. We talked our son out of military service 8 years ago. Convinced him that what he believed was service, only existed in the US military, and not in Canada. I’ve worked with those who’ve served, and to a person, they stated the Canuck military, well, eye rolls were the start of the convo and got worse from there.
Canada is an unserious country.
I watched the interview. It was a softball interview of course, she was not challenged on any answer she gave. She was not challenged when she evaded questions either. No questions about her role as chief for Professional Conduct and Culture in her previous job and how prioritizing “Culture Change” instead or readiness lead us to the weak and ineffective military we have today, including thousands of releases and problems with recruiting and retention. Or the effect on morale of having LGBT safe spaces, tampons in men’s washrooms, mandatory training on pronouns and Trans (delivered by an Ottawa office at the Directorate level, i.e. a full Colonel and staff) and diversity scores in yearly personnel evaluation. No discussion on serviceability rates of the equipment. Or crying delivering an apology. Not even the elephant in the room, being appointed CDS just because she is a woman (how many better qualified men were passed over). Everything is fine, we have not made any mistakes, we are ready for war.
