  1. Should Regina City Council ask Ford what their future EV plans are?

      1. For anyone not familiar with the size of Regina (the city which rhymes with “fun”)
It’s about 10 minutes from the Winnipeg Street North Regina bus depot to downtown where all civic buses start and stop.
20 minutes to the edges of the city in any direction, and 20 minutes return to downtown, then one more route to the edge of the city in any direction and return to downtown is 90 minutes in total, and with another 10 minutes to depot to re-charge is 100 minutes.

The union rep. says sometimes they’re good for 90 minutes. I don’t know if they get towed back to depot if they run out of energy at the 90 minutes mark on a cold day, or if by “cold” they mean -35 like in January, or if -20 like in December. You take your chances in Regina… results may vary.

Next weekend’s temps in Regina will be -21 to -26 at night and -20 to -19 in the day. It’s a balmy +8 here in Calgary now and those warm winds will blow through Regina sometime tomorrow, but it’s not going to last… It never does, and I remember well growing up (ok, “getting older” in Regina) and I was one of the cool kids who didn’t need a hat in winter. My ears froze and peeled until May-June from that experience. You typically only need to do that once.

Union president Mr. Singh doesn’t appear to be too interested in having to prove this ears peeling theory to anyone, not likely much to do with his hat. Hope it’s wool and not cotton or especially acrylic (which feels cold to me even at room temperature).

        1. “Union president Mr. Singh doesn’t appear to be…”

          Mr. Singh?
How can you not address the man by his first name, Suck-Winder?
The jokes just write themselves when a fella has a name like that.

  2. The puns are enjoyable, but underlay the main question. When someone dies because these busses are useless at -30C, who gets charged with murder because they moved at gas/diesel/natgas engine from use.

It should be a capital charge.

    1. We’re talking about busses here.
Get back to us when these geniuses demand that the city’s ambulances are all EVs.

    2. busses are useless at -30C, who gets charged with murder
No no charge the busses with electricity. Perhaps that’s what they’re doing wrong in Regina. We are eagerly awaiting our electric busses in Ottawa.

  3. When one starts to believe ideological lies, like climate change and CO2 as a pollutant, falling for the long confidence operation (Pure EVs as reliable technology in anything but a golf cart) is a short step.

  4. When I was a little kid, my older brother used to tease me a bit. He did the ole’ grabbing my arm and swinging it at myself….all the time saying “stop hitting yourself….stop hitting yourself.”

This reminds me of those “fun” times.

  5. Honest question: Do you have to be the offspring of first cousins or siblings to be a politician or bureaucrat?

  6. Virtue signaling your carrrrreee for the planet … is very expensive.

PS … all Regina bus passengers … it would be highly advisable to dress very, very, warmly … and carry a full survival kit with you.

  7. L – If I lived in Regina, I’d start a justbins for mayor campaign. Someone needs to organize a Regina Taxpayers Association podcast, both the host and server in a safe country. Only an uprising of citizen journalists online can save what remains Canadian in values.

    1. That’s the insanity of it all. People have known for years that electric vehicles are a dud in cold temperatures.

  8. L – When the president of the transit union is the only intelligent person in the room and honest. Delightful, is that none of the climate crisis crowd can dare disagree with him, without the risk of being tagged with racism by anyone on the internet.
