Ottawa Citizen- Canadian military will rely on an army of public servants to boost its ranks by 300,000
Federal and provincial employees would be given a one-week training course in how to handle firearms, drive trucks and fly drones, according to the directive, signed by Chief of the Defence Staff Gen. Jennie Carignan and defence deputy minister Stefanie Beck on May 30, 2025.
I feel that arming the imbeciles in Ottawa is a step in the wrong direction. Perhaps they should simply work on their phone answering skills then step up to something requiring more sense.
Keep in mind these are of the same ilk who were terrified through sleepless nights because of the horns honking during the Freedom Convoy and quite possibly still suffering the psychological affects of being disrespected by the vast majority of westerners.
They’re the last people in Canada who should have access to guns.

Like you, JB, I believe this is smoke and mirrors to pretend to NATO that we have increased our military.
My son, who is in the military, just took a bunch of new recruits through (I believe) 4 months of 24/7 training. At the end, the recruits were told they were still not ready. They now need specialized training for whatever their future roles would be.
These are fit young people who actively want to be in the military.
And swivel servants will be fit for exactly what after one week?
My hope is that this is just to boost numbers in a fake way. They obviously cannot be deployed against a real military.
My fear is that these individuals and this “tiger team” is meant to provide more JBThugs for domestic use. Given that they cannot be used against external enemies…..300K individuals could help enforce mandates of some sort on those deemed to be internal enemies of the State.

I believe the originating memo was drafted in early March of this year, but had to go through the normal review process for the Canadian military. As a result, it was not released until November – More than six months after the planed April 1 date.

NOPE. Universality of service. All must pass the fitness test or GTFO. That’s the standard for service members now. Get these lazy bastards to pass the fitness test, then basic training, then maybe we can trust them with a rifle.
How about mandatory service? A little lottery? This way, DND and the CF could be manned with all the diversity the gubmint keeps calling for. 50% females. Women can do anything a man can, only better, right CDS? The appropriate number of visible minorities, to reflect that rich tapestry that is our strength. Just like in the commercials. Let’s not forget the LGBT crowd, so they can match the rainbow crosswalks on bases. This would immediately accomplish the CF’s number one priority: culture change.

Much like moving the coast guard to DND, this is to increase things that can be counted as “defense Spending” without actually increasing defense spending.
