Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

hallelujah. go for it Alberta while you still bloody well can and be prepared to CHEAT in order to counteract the machinations oozing out of OttaWAS
Lukaszuk’s Lefties were out in full force during the municipal elections last week.
I shared with the two fake-proud-Canadians:
… that without federal representation in Ottawa it was natural to lean in the direction of Independence
… that Quebec should have become Independent (with no hard feelings) as she proved her ability to govern herself
… that BC should have followed for the same reason, with encouragement from Ottawa as the proud parent
… that “separation” is being used with the intentional connotation of an ugly divorce with hurt children
… that just as grown adults refusing to leave their parents abode are irresponsible, so too are provinces which refuse to grow up
… that Alberta is merely next in line ie, having long proven the ability to self-govern
It’s only presented as ugly (by the Left) because Ottawa refuses to allow her own grown children to fly free,
which is grotesque to the nth degree.
For Canada, in the long run, it is inevitable, healthy, and beautiful.
Commies everywhere know it.
Those who favor federalism are striding up and down the breadth of Alberta while the separatist movement is still pulling up its boots.
But this petition has never sampled the real perspective of the province’s residents, and I don’t believe actually reflects the overall sentiments of its residents. It was never intended to. It was designed both as a propaganda tool, and to confuse the issue if this ever does come to a vote.
There are a lot of powerful forces arrayed against Albertan independence, and the ironic thing is that most of them have been deployed by people who detest Alberta in general and rural Albertans in particular.
Eastern Canada and Ottawa simply can’t afford to continue their project of transforming Canada without the oil revenues from Alberta, but they don’t want a prosperous, politically influential Alberta. They need the province kept alive – but just barely. Albertans fail to understand that if they fail to attain independence within the next two years, they never will. The population of the province is being demographically transformed at breakneck speed, while the federal government is busily implementing programs to keep a host of federal employees in that province who are dependent on the status quo.
In the meantime, the oil industry in the province is being kept in check with regulations that are titrated to prevent any further investment, while leaving it just viable enough to prevent the current investors from fleeing altogether.
The Liberals are also deploying the mainstream media to hide, belittle and discredit any attempt by the independence movement to gain momentum, while at the same time spending millions on astroturfing social media and boosting posts from useful commentators to deploy messaging that might be too discreditable for the “official” media. This is where the most venomous stuff on social media gets its oxygen from.
The LPC spent the COVID years honing its ability to persuade people through propaganda and psy-ops. Those same tools and people are now being employed proactively against independence-minded Albertans.
Sadly, the recent “elbows up” campaign has demonstrated just how susceptible Canadians are to even the crudest, most clumsily implemented propaganda.
I believe that an independent Alberta is the last, best hope to preserve even a fragment of Canadian culture and independence.
If Alberta separates, the contrast between that nation and the rest of Canada will quickly become so stark that it reveals just how destructive Ottawa’s globalist program to transform this nation is becoming. It would be a contrast even greater than that between Florida and California. The differences in personal liberty, prosperity, and social conditions will become so obvious that it could embolden other provinces to push back against Ottawa. The federal government can’t allow this to happen.
Sadly, the folks running the independence movement in this province have no clue what they’re up against, and no conception of how to fight back in the war of persuasion.
elbows up.
something you might hear at a high school pep rally?
all the clucking liberal parrots are stuck in their mid teens
Informative and thought-provoking. A great post. Thank you.
Nice!
I’m confused by this. Am I to understand that this former deputy premier of Alberta, Thomas Lukaszuk inadvertently did the Separatist’s job for them? His intention was to get enough signatures to try and convince everyone to AVOID any referendum vote. To that effect, he secured 456,365 signatures of people who wanted to remain in Canada. BUT, in the process he secured over the 294,000 signatures required to initiate a referendum vote because there were at least that many that didn’t want to stay a part of Canada.
If that’s what happened, then someone should send him a gift basket.
That was my understanding of this too.
I heard someone from their organization speaking that they wanted it voted on in parliament, not taken to the people as a referendum.
Personally think the whole thing stinks from the head down, and the shady poop they did during the municipal elections should have had it invalidated but that’s just me
If this one goes ahead, it should be an easy win for the no side Because it is much easier to campaign against Ottawa then for Canada.
Referenda work great.
Here in Alberta we choose to keep daylight savings time until the heat death of the universe.
The bureaucrats, who hate the lock the clock idea, got to write the question – and made it so confusing many of those who voted for locking the clocks got counted as against it.
I have deliberately avoided the elderly women (anecdotally that is what they seem to all be, probably retired nurses and teachers living off a nice fat, fully indexed pension) that have been running around asking for signatures. I really don’t want to say to these elderly women what I think of Fabio, his cause and the useless, trash country he wants us to remain part of. Only so much pearl clutching I can stomach.
What I do want to know is, what if I say NO!? What if the majority of my fellow Albertans say NO!? What then? To my mind, if that happens, the Province must move forward on separating from this dumpster fire (on the verge of bankruptcy) It must also petition the United States to recognize the results and recognize a free and fully independent Alberta with the protection of the United States military (or the number three Eagle Scout troop from Great Falls who will be more than effective)
Fabio may have done us all an enormous service! The APP and other groups can now move forward and spend their money on the actual campaign and dissemination of facts.
I think there may be 2 referenda by autumn 2026… one to “not leave Canada” and another “to leave Canada”
If both win? who knows what’s next? I think Wexit for AB will win.
When AB presented the results from the “renegotiate equalization payments” referendum held about 5 years ago with the provincial election, the federal gov’t didn’t acknowledge it and it sits on someone’s desk to this day.
They won’t ignore the separation referendum.
If you became independent, then why would you need the protection of another nation’s military? That’s the same problem your entire country has.
May I remind you that we are still in NATO, and so is Canada. No, we’ll sit it out and see what happens as there is nothing in it for us. Unless of course you make us a deal we really shouldn’t refuse, but that doesn’t seem to be anywhere on the horizon. Besides, it would be a hard sell to the American people, who wouldn’t understand the need to expend treasure and blood on you, so politically not worth it at this time.
You may not like this response as it’s irksome to you — a wrench in the plans, hurtful of feelings — but it’s just the practical truth of the matter.
This, of course, has been anticipated.
Not irked at all. Apologies for the poor phraseology of my proposition.
Over the long run, an independent Alberta and Saskatchewan should fully and completely live up to the obligations of defending ourselves and coming to the aid of our allies. Something canaduh has completely failed to do. When I refer to the protection of the US military, it is in the context of the idiots in Ottawa trying to use coercive force on the democratic will of an [ostensibly] free people. The recognition by the United States and its well known history of protecting its self interest (a free West would definitely fall into that category) with a minimal demonstration of resolve would ensure the results of a freely held referendum were respected.
I’m glad you’re not irked, but you have yet to tell me how this would eventually work towards our self-interest. Just like how there seems to be some “oh, we’ve taken this into account” but no details outlining how it has been taken into account.
Hold the referendum, sure, and my government might very well acknowledge it. But, if push came to shove, I’m not sure we’d get involved beyond that.
The Pro Canada” side is going to lie, cheat, slander and steal..
They have to,for they are unable to make any case for the continuation of the Confederated Kleptocracy.
And their ability to leech off of all who work, depends on the status quo.
I do smell a rat.
The “We will never leave” lovies got their signatures .
And Elections Canada will “confirm them”
Of course when the vote on “Staying with Can Ahh Duh” goes “NO”..
Then all these slippery bandits will claim the referendum invalid cause they cheated in their ballot collecting.
On that note..
Has anyone from “Canada is wonderful” made a coherent case for why this corrupt basketcase should continue?
I await one with great interest.
I expect one ,that will be of the quality of a Carney Speech.
I cannot wait to vote in Lukasik’s referendum. Oh how delicious it would be if he is the one who gave Alberta its freedom.
It’s a dumb question. It doesn’t really mean anything as far as I can tell and it’s confusing people.
It even confused Danielle because, in the video clip above she said, “…asking people if you want to stay in **Alberta**, yes or no?”
I found that amusing. She is not easy to fluster but I think this did it.
Poor Danielle…she’s in for some very troubled waters with regards to her own political career. It’s always hard determining which side of the fence one should climb down to when the fence keeps threatening to collapse either way.
Poor?
The savviest politician in Canada,
and more importantly an open and honest anti-communist,
wears her battle scars proudly.
Do not feel sorry for Alberta, or Albertans
for you are witnessing the inevitable.
The future of the West is Bright.
Right now there’s no referendum scheduled or even planned.
The above mentioned petition will have its signatures evaluated for integrity. Want to place a bet on the result?
If petition is held to be valid it goes to the legislature – who will do what with it?
May the Prairies separate into their own FREE nation … as opposed to the Canadian Slave State.
California should do the same?
Unlike the Canadian Provinces … we can actually just MOVE to a RED State and escape the Californicated nonsense.
When are you moving?
As soon as Trump completes turning the nation’s economy positive … and the Fed stops keeping rates artificially high … waiting for the ‘tariff inflation’ to kick in. Then, the housing market stagnation will end.
You really should qualify with: just as long as they don’t come to us with their beggar bowls out, nor try to yank us around on any trade/security agreements.
We already have a country to the north that does this, don’t want or need another.
Alberta seeks allies.
And have never begged; busy proudly working.
