Diversity which does not kill us makes us stronger, I suppose.
The man whose Millwoods home was destroyed during illegal Diwali fireworks says his family lost their house and is calling for tougher penalties.
Edmonton Fire Rescue pegged damages at roughly $175,000, and police have charged three people with arson.

L – Where were the police ? If citizens have to protect their own neighbourhoods from arson,
they should, at least, receive a tax deduction from city taxes for said neighbourhoods. They should also be covered by legal defence insurance by the city, just in case…
Have the mayor and local city councillor visited this family. Have they promised to see that the appropriate criminal and civil charges will be pending, after the police go door to door investigating this threat to public safety?
I do miss the 20th Century Canada with the Rule of Law and Constitutional Rights and Freedom under moral law, as was out religious and cultural heritage.
When there was a dominant religion along with a dominant demographic majority, alongside decency and moral/ethical behaviour by the majority of people (society AND government) – Canada didn’t have issues like we are faced with today.
I’m tired of fireworks in general. Loved them when I was younger. Used to burn a couple hundred bucks for the 4th of July. Cops would let you get away with it for a few hours, one day a year. Otherwise chase you down. But they’re everywhere now. Random mortar fire all year long. 2am on a Wednesday because some crackhead is drunk. Every “holiday” and bs cultural celebration. Not to mention every “peaceful protest” since 2020.
No cops.
Same thing where I live but even more so.
Aside from the random booms and roman candles set off every now and then just because our town and every town around has a special festival week in the summer with kid setting off lots of firecrackers each day and night, culminating in a fireworks extravaganza organized by the town administration.
There’s also the loud booms heard whenever a fan’s favorite soccer team scores a goal, especially when it’s against a top rival team. There are more booms if the favorite team wins.
l can see a time coming, and hopefully private contracts for cops.
same qualifications, Aylmer college yada yada and l DONT mean gated communities but entire 50 block sections that hire the cops via community groups they are beholding DIRECTLY to the citizenry who pay their salaries thru ageed levies on top of the usual taxes. and guess whut ADJUSTED DOWNWARD because that portion of property taxes aint goig the ‘usul route. none of this snarky prick with a badge showing up telling you youre wasting their time.
l can see it an an outgrowth of this kind of ‘where are the cops’ nonsense.
Endorse! I live in New Jersey, where even the slightest bit of road work (Like filling a 1 inch deep pothole on the quietest of streets – even a cul-de-sac) has required a cop (sometimes more) to babysit the whole operation. And don’t even get me started on these people and their pensions. I’m always first to defend cops, especially after the whole St. George Floyd BS, but i’m a little sick and tired of how much they’re compensated.
It’s grift, in the form of the government demands that you hire a government worker at an inflated rate, which the government takes a cut of, for a job contracted by the government, which the government is paying for.
I can’t remember any houses going on a Victoria Day or a Canada Day. What is going on here?
Whats the problem?
A little bit of urban renewal and clearing a spot for more family members..
Accidental fire?/
Oh yeah.
Nice extortion racket as well.
“How much you pay?
To have the rockets go away?”
