  1. Of the $52 billion government “support”, $38 billion is production subsidies. Has the production subsidy money been spent? Or was it a subsidy once vehicles were produced?

Meanwhile, of the remainder, about $24 billion, how much ended up in the hands of Liberal contractors and consulting firms? There was a time when enterprising reporters would dig up this info.

  2. Brown is a weirdo and an idiot.

I watch TV a lot and its electric and I don’t drive my gasoline-powered car when I watch it.
Can I get my next one subsidized by the bunch of fcking idiots we call government?

  3. VW has about 4% of the US market, and I doubt the recent quality control problems at Audi are helping. A recent vehicle poll had placed Audi last in the market, believable to me for their V6 or V8 options but the 4 seems to be a good performer, though I’m not in the new car market … sellers seem surprised when something minor doesn’t cost them $5k in the V6/8 engines.

“timing of the battery plants has been delayed due to slower EV sales, but VW is not rethinking the overall plan at this time.”

VW is still looking at laying off 30k workers worldwide, which seems low to me. If any company is to return to the Canadian federal gov’t to ask for more money or they’re going to be laying off more workers, I can’t see it happening. Federal budget time is closing in and it’s going to be spectacular. More so if you’re dependent upon the federal gov’t.

“Chrystia Freeland and François-Philippe Champagne wrote that deal. Period.
Both of them should be fired.
Not shuffled. Not reassigned. Not sent to some cozy post abroad. Fired.
You don’t hand out $15 billion in subsidies and forget to protect Canadian workers. You don’t gamble with people’s livelihoods and shrug when the bet goes sideways.
This wasn’t bad luck, it was bad governance, and it demands consequences.”

Carney issues memos, Joly writes letters, and Freeland hides abroad—while 3,000 Canadian workers pay the price for a green gamble built on denial and delusion.”

and nothing to show for this.
Canadians looking to their federal gov’t for reassurance that something good will come from this should look in the mirror and ask out loud: “what have I learned from this, for $15 B. what do I know now that I didn’t know last year?”
The answer, should include that the federal gov’t of tier 2 Canada is scamming those in the country who may have had 1 nerve remaining which hadn’t been violated since the rise of covid. Everything I see with a federal gov’t mention to it, is garbage. The #Libranos hired a PhD who should know better, and we’ve gotten demonstrably worse in every metric.
Fool me once, shame on you
Fool me twice, shame on me
Fool me $15 Billion times…. the Dutch had a cure for this a few centuries ago for their PM Johann de Witt and his brother Cornelis

    1. Anyone with half a brain KNOWS, at the time that these political hacks, when handing out Billions to whatever entity it is, is making a foolish stupid mistake.
Happens time and again. And, of course, the politicians blame the entity, not their stupid, inept, incompetent colleagues.
Thanks Liberal voters, really, just Thanks! Elbows Up Bitches.

  5. When the BYD appears here, and it will despite the machinations of Unifor, Liberals and ENDPs, it will render the NA EV manufacturing extinct.
Hell, at 20-25k per vehicle, if true, would be wildly popular amongst the public.
Yes, it’s another industry killer courtesy of the CCP’s subsidization model. No wonder it’s being fought against, but it appears many other countries have given up, namely Australia, and those in the EU.

  6. L – Ontario’s Liberal/NDP governments made decisions over the last quarter century to sacrifice high value added jobs in the manufacturing sector. This to virtue signal and genuflect to the pagan deity Gaia; which raised the cost of the energy in Ontario making much less competitive. Thus shipping those jobs to China, who burns coal. Ironically, some of it from Canada, to fuel it’s plan to be the industrial hegemon of the world. Emperor Xi… think Emperor Ming, but without Flash Gordon to save Canada, to make Canada great again.

That Ontario was hypnotized into believing their nation state, economy and constitutional Rights were not subverted by globalist Canadian politicians! Who refused to present Canada as the best friend/partner the project of fortress North America e.i. NORAD in negotiations with the incoming Trump administration. Thus gaining a favoured trade status. But the opposite.

The Liberal’s subterfuge of running against Pres. Trump allowed them another few years of parasitism of the Canadian body politic, before we reach failed state status. Then government spending here will be dictated by the International Monetary Fund.

Though I’d not be surprised if “The Right Honourable Mark Carney” was on that IMF committee.

  7. “Related :no one is coming to save us.” You got that right. Can you name one “investment” made in the last ten years that has shown a business case return? The closest might bee TMX. But I find it difficult to qualify take over of a 6 billion dollar project and inflating the cost 35 billion or who really knows how much a sound investment.
They (government in power) has told us what they intend to do and I see nothing in site that would disrupt the program that we were told they plan. We are under a basic dictatorship and any attempts to disrupt it will be dealt with harshly. You will own nothing ,your freedom will be at their discretion , but I doubt you will like it.

    1. Of course no one can name an investment that made business sense, if it did, private business would do the investing. Governments by definition throw money at things that won’t generate a justifiable return, even if they got lucky and found one, they would f*ck it up and lose money because governments are incompetent. Shithole.

  8. And add to these subsidies the subsidies and tax credits given to buyers of these limited range, limited use vehicles. And those subsidies are going to the 5% who can afford these rolling bricks. Yeah … the rich are getting all the perks.

  9. No one cared when Canada’s pulp/paper industry was decimated in the last 20 years, but now the forest fires due to reduced logging is now from GoreBull warming.
