Shooting Your Own Foot

In response to the decision to close an Ontario liquor bottling plant, Ontario consumers may soon be unable to buy liquor made in Gimli, Manitoba. So much for inter-provincial free trade.

“A message to all the bigwigs at Diageo: I swear to God, those bottles of Crown Royal are coming off the LCBO shelves. When the last person walks out through that door, we’re going to make sure LCBO takes off their brands because we need to stick together,” Ford said during a union rally in Brampton on Saturday.

Diageo also noted that the company will continue to have a presence in Canada, including their Canadian headquarters and warehouse operations in the Greater Toronto Area.

  1. Doug Ford is a communist buffoon and he’s still the best option for Ontario voters. This is where we are.

(I vote Ontario Party to create what’s basically a spoiled ballot).

    RNrn

    1. RN this is the same reason why BC votes communists (NDP) the only alternative is the so called Conservative Party which is really a bunch of liberal carpet baggers.
So you have NDP to Liberal. You wind up communists.

I’m fortunate to have an independent MPP, she’s excellent. An actual conservative, small “c”.

But you’re right, the other parties are -so- much worse that #dougie is the least-bad option in Ontario. I’d say join the PC Party and drive change from within, but I’ve actually tried that myself and y’all ain’t getting nowhere. The entrenched corruption and special deals for “friends” are breathtaking. Starting a new party? Same thing.

Socialism. It’s a small and exclusive club, and you ain’t in it.

  2. Interesting to see #BlubberDougie’s unswerving commitment to the sizzle at the expense of the steak. Usually he’s smarter than this, and covers it up a little better.

You can’t eat the sizzle, my friends.

  3. Pretty soon it will only be Ontario grown or produced items in the LCBO. Every bottle will be damned expensive to pay for all those marketing, buyers and retail employees.

On the plus side, theft will plummet as there won’t be anything worth stealing.

(I cellar some really good Ontario wines which I buy direct but still pay LCBO a health percentage)

    1. Tit for tat, I guess Manitoba should ban said Ontario wines.
(FWIW Both Provinces have commie Premiers.)

  4. Fatso can fck right off.
Companies, capital and humans have been fleeing Canada for decades because of big bad stupid governments like Fatso’s.

  5. Gimli, on the beautiful shore of Lake Winnipg.

Where Winnipeg’s population of about 850,000 sewer flows into.

You can smell it at the St Andrews Dam in Lockport, where people fish….
