I’ve been traveling a lot recently and somewhat out of touch with the news. While driving today, I was playing a bunch of shows from Podcast of the Lotus Eaters and listened to this episode. I had heard a little bit about the Generation Z revolution in Nepal, but had no idea that Harry Jackson, an English traveler/vlogger had captured much of it live. The videos he captured are unreal. If you only want to watch one, let it be this one. A story about all of this can be read here.
Update: More context on what helped start this revolution.

Nepal politics are weird. They are the buffer zone between China and India. As a result, Nepal has spent their time playing one against the other. “China is giving us an airport, India…whadda got for us today?” That sort of thing. That sort of “gift giving” is easily, and obviously corruptible. Which is where I think they find themselves today.
If India wasn’t on the other side of Nepal, I think China would have long annexed the territory. But, it’s the only region along the China/ India border breaking up the straight boundary between them.
Ah, but there could be another catalyst to this unrest as well. The US has had a long history of influence in Nepal attempting (and I wish we’d stop doing this) to push them to a democratic form of government. At the same time, China has been trying to increase political influence in a contrary capacity. And, guess where all the US money was coming from to provide this influence. USAID (Millions upon Millions). That has been turned off, forcing Nepal politicians to find the money elsewhere. The citizens of Nepal didn’t appreciate that.
gen z = world war z?
Right now I’m more consumed with the biggest shithole country on the planet – India. Specifically, I’m a little pissed at Trump for having not yet wiped India off the face of the earth due to their filthy call center savages calling my elderly parents 15x a day trying to scam them out of their life savings.
Another colour revolution
The color of money.
