National Post- Liberal ‘austerity’? Don’t make us laugh
On Wednesday, Carney told reporters that the upcoming fall budget will be “an austerity and investment budget at the same time,” noting that, “We need to rein in spending, we need to find efficiencies … that create the room for these big investments.” The following day, his finance minister, François-Philippe Champagne, said, “We’re going to spend less so we can invest more.”
Austerity will mean cutting CCP and OAS payments, cutting healthcare, and giving more billions to corrupt despots overseas.
In LiberalLaLaLand? You kidding?
The Elbows Up Boomers would scream murder at those cuts.
There’s no way that Liberals cut anything to their voter base.
“Investment”? In what? FAILED battery plants? More FAILED wind towers? Yeah … investments where your NAV goes to ZERO. Net ZERO.
New buzzword – Invest.
Gov’t spending under a new name will be, like, totally different, right?
So are Canadians stupid enough to be duped into thinking that “investing” is any different or more efficient than “spending” was in the past?
I know (we all know) the media is stupid enough to swallow the new word (Sorry for the metaphor. Think fishing. Please.)

Well….if past behavior is any indication….
In today’s Canada, governments”use “investing” as a code word for money laundering. Battery plants, green slush fund, vaccine plants, etc. Taxpayer money gets invested, politically linked companies take millions of taxpayer’s money, companies don’t produce anything or go bankrupt and the taxpayer money disappears. All documents relating to the failed investment are deemed confidential by the government.
Where does the money go? How do politicians and their buddies get so rich during their time in power? Not rocket science.
Hence the expression, “investing like a drunken sailor”.
I hate that metaphor when it is used in relation to government, because it doesn’t fit at all.
Drunken sailors are spending their OWN money, that they earned with hard work.
That couldn’t be any more different than government spending.
My mom used to use the expression, “spending like drunken sailors”
My argument against it was that the sailors stop spending when their Visa is maxed out, sometime early Sunday AM, and they set sail again Sunday evening.
The gov’t issues themselves a new Visa card, hopefully it lasts until next weekend when they’ll get another and meanwhile you (and the sailor) make the payments on those gov’t Visa cards.
OK, then. How about this?
They are spending like drunken pirates who raided the good ship “Taxpayer” and scuttled it.
All very true. And yet, following that line of thought one might form “Drunken Sailor Investments – We treat every penny like our own!”, because that would seem to be good marketing. And I’m not sure it is.
I think most of the increased debt spending will be for eastern Canada. The gov’t calls it “investment” but it’s money the gov’t doesn’t yet have, and hasn’t yet stolen from citizens. So, it’s a future tax.
I’m hopeful the #Libranos spend another trillion there, and feed the separatist movement in AB/Saskatchewan.

I have a much better idea….cut federal government spending and regulations to the bone allow the private sector to handle the growth of the economy and most importantly, the federal government needs to get some steel in its spine and invoke its constitutional authority on any province or FN flakes who get in the way…the feds have been using provincial and FN resistance as a shield to hold the economy back.
The only people fooled by Liberals are fools.

– Throw dump trucks of cash at quebec to keep the laurentien elite happy
– dump megatonnes of cash at idiot green schemes to keep the commie watermelons happy, and to self-preen
– throw endless cash at layabout indians to keep them as worthless slaves on the reservations
– flush billions bringing in millions of asians to drive up housing costs for canadians, and securing more liberal votes
– if any bundles of cash are left standing, use them to stick a finger in the eye of the US
