    1. I know Steve Falk, the man featured in that piece. I worked with him for 22 years when he was city Manager of Lafayette, CA. He’s a raging leftist, and appears to be trying to give EXTREME leftist mayor Barbara Lee more POWER. That would align with his beliefs.

      However, I always liked Steve and he was an excellent city Manager of our wealthy, mostly conservative (back then) little bedroom suburb. He is a very competent and responsive manager. He very publicly QUIT his job in Lafayette because of the IDIOTIC NIMBYism in our community.

      There was a particular piece of property in Lafayette which was zoned to allow 350 units. The property was near BART so it made sense to have that high density. But the developer came to the city with a horrendously UGLY apartment block. So Steve, and the Planning Staff worked with the Developer who ultimately came back to the city with a 44 unit neighborhood of small lot single family homes that were beautifully designed.

      Well … a group of (literally) IDIOTS who called themselves “Save Lafayette” fought the project and managed to put the development of that ONE parcel on a special election ballot. Imagine that … “voters” get to decide the development of individual properties. Ridiculous. Well, the voters said NO to the 44 home development. Why? Because it was going to RUIN traffic on some already overcrowded roads … and the project was adjacent to the freeway … so children living there would be dying of respiratory diseases. Yes, they actually SOLD that to the public.

      Well “Save Lafayette” was WARNED that if the 44 unit of single family homes was denied, then the developer would return with his original FUGLY, NASTY, 350 unit apartment building. Well the “SAVE Lafayette” folks through their attorney insisted that was a LIE, and that they would be denying any development on that parcel. Well, they were wrong. Really wrong. So now, instead of a cute (compatible) neighborhood of 44 single family homes … we have a behemoth apartment block(s) on the very top of a hilltop.

      It was that STUPID, badly researched, NIMBYism that finally forced Steve to quit. So now, instead, we have a Brahmin woman as city Manager who puts “Land Acknowledgements” on the city website and on signs throughout the city. Just to put it in the FACES of our 85% lillywhite community. Yeah, she’s all about DEI and smashing “whiteness”

      I gotta get out of here. This 4th Gen. Californian is so DONE with this place.

    Prime Minister Mark Carney says Canada will work on expanding its trade relationship with China, but only in ways consistent with Canadian values and interests.

    He made the remarks when asked about an apparent growing alignment between China, Russia, and North Korea.

    1. He’s a Liberal globalist. Words are just filler for reporteres and camers, no meaning should be attached to them. If you want some meaning, look at their “actions”.

        And the ‘ums’ and ‘ahs’ are filler till he remembers his last lie on record for the issue under discussion.
        I’ve NEVER heard a speaker use so many; have considered clocking the number in an audio clip and deriving a ratio.
