      Meanwhile Manitoba’s vast natural resources sit in the ground.

  12. Back in the day, Ontario and Quebec were made large for a reason. The same reason Manitoba was kept small, and Alberta and Saskatchewan were divided into two smaller provinces, instead of one large one, to keep the political power in Upper Canada and Lower Canada.

  13. The impasse is that nearly all Quebecers believe they net contribute to the country. And the bulk of the rest of the country believes Trump is our biggest problem and are fearful of that. You know, just like they believe medical services are free. Don’t believe the state owned media isn’t net value to the government goals and propaganda. The majority will not support a new country until they are starving in the cold.

Quebec is likely Alberta’s best reason to leave and they won’t leave until Alberta goes and takes all that Quebec-entitlement loot with them.

What I find “amusing” is that when you get into a debate with Quebeckers and/or Liberals/NDP morons (I repeat myself) about this matter, they immediately go to the “transfers” and what Alberta gets from Ottawa. They are too ignorant to understand that there are transfer payments and EQUALIZATION payments….two entirely different things.

    All provinces get “transfer payments” which is really just an Ottawa money laundering scheme that allows the feds to interfere in provincial jurisdiction by holding funding over their heads….money that has been taken out of provinces and which will be given back to them in some form if they tow the Ottawa line.

    And then there is “equalization”…..that is theft, pure and simple. And of course, Alberta has not received “equalization” for over 60 years. I am sick of babbling Quebeckers and Liberal/NDP hacks who try to rationalize the theft.

    The federal government needs to cut its tax take by a third and give the tax room to the provinces and STAY THE HELL OUT OF PROVINCIAL JURISDICTION!

  25. $5,000 per year per Albertan transferred out of the province while PEI (4 Liberal MP’s and the most overgoverned piece of real estate in the country) receives $3,667 per person. There are other monstrous transfers as well. It is absolutely nauseating. Glad that Smith rammed that down his throat.

    1. 20% of PEI’s gov’t budget is from outside of PEI, from primarily AB tax dollars given to the federal gov’t which never return.
      There’s going to be a reckoning when that gets pulled from the table. I have no idea how to make up 20%
      I sometimes mention in social media that they should plant “victory gardens” so they don’t starve in the cold winters to come. Then they tell me I’m a hater etc…
