So Dougie is off to sell his pal Carney on the need to lower taxes. I’d prefer if he’d lobby for spending cuts instead, but he obviously thinks that out of control borrowing is somehow stimulative.
Ford says he’ll travel to Ottawa for what he calls a “heart-to-heart” meeting with Carney, who he says is doing a good job.
At end of the day, however, apparently there’s no ill that can’t be fixed with zero percent interest.
Speaking at an unrelated announcement today in Windsor, Ont., Ford also urged the Bank of Canada to lower interest rates.
Out of control spending does in fact stimulate the economy. The post-high crash, however, is hell.
Reinhart and Rogoff would tend to disagree. When public debt is over 90% of GDP (those were the days, sic) the multiplier effect of a dollar of debt is less than 1, meaning there is no stimulus, at best you can have some marginal additive effect, more likely what you get is inflation. Canada’s sovereign and sub-sovereign debt is in the 130%+ range, we get nothing but an economic drag from the spending, as capital is diverted to unproductive uses. Government is most definitely unproductive.
Didn’t True Dough want everyone to max out their credit cards to spend our way to prosperity?
Don’t worry blubber douggie, we’ll all be on the gravy train when those wonderful battery plants you pissed our billions into start paying off. Right?
So, Blubber Thug has maxed it his credit card, and he’s running off to mooch from Daddy Warbux. Ford is a perfect 10 on the pathetic wuss index
Just look at that photo of Carney and Ford.
Their mouths are set in the same state, making it difficult to determine who is pitching and who is receiving.
Sorry.
Well the truth is, interest rates should be lowered because the Canadian economy is going to auger into the ground unless Herr Carney can get the tariff situation under control…..which he likely can’t. He is useless.
Canada’s economy was augering into the ground before the the tariffs, they are just the coup de grace needed to finish off the loser(s).
From the sounds of it, Ford is setting the stage for an exit from politics.
That meeting is to get a referral for a job after politics (aka calling in a favour) because Carney is about to lose any clout with the cool kids (like he ever did).
Ford wants PP’s job, but PP has to flame out first.
