Embrace Hollywood!

I won’t spoil the ending.

At the height of the Great Awokening in 2021, [Gina] Carano posted that the then-current political climate — where people are hated for their political views — had a historical parallel in the Nazi Party’s efforts to make Germans hate their neighbors simply for being Jewish. To prove her point, critics launched a “#FireGinaCarano” campaign. As cowardly woke corporations so often do, Disney and Lucasfilm quickly caved to the pressure and fired Carano from her role in The Mandalorian.

It was a textbook example of how swiftly the online left-wing social media mob could mobilize to destroy someone for holding dissenting opinions — cancel culture, if you will. By bowing to that mob, Disney and Lucasfilm only emboldened it.

Not only that, but by firing Carano, both studios exposed themselves as massive hypocrites. Lucasfilm described her posts as “abhorrent and unacceptable” when she was removed. Conveniently unmentioned? Mandalorian co-star Pedro Pascal’s tweets comparing Trump supporters to Nazis, and another post with “#ThisIsAmerica” beneath an image he believed depicted U.S. immigration enforcement, but which was instead a photo from the West Bank. Beyond the fact that Pascal, lacking basic awareness, misrepresented the image entirely, the fact that he kept his job highlighted Disney’s ever-changing enforcement.

  1. Hollywood loves to make movies about communist blacklisting during the McCarthy era (The Front, Trump, Good Night and Good Luck, Guilty By Suspicion, etc.) but apparently has learned nothing from this. As soon as the politics are reversed, their integrity melts like a spring snow.

    1. Integrity?! Never had any to begin with. Don’t let the pursuit of the almighty $$$ be confused w/ actual integrity.

    2. I’m usually disappointed with Artsy peeples politics because it breaks the fourth wall so to speak, and most are raging Marxists often living in luxury.

      1. Useful idiots always think they will be part of the elite after the revolution. Right up to standing in front of the wall will they cling to the delusion.

    3. Hollywood’s lesson from this Carano LOSS? Do a better job of screening out conservatives in the first place. Simply don’t hire ANY conservatives … for anything. Scour all prospective employee’s social media footprints, associations, and associates. Check their political registrations.

That’s … the lesson learned by Hollywood.

It’s similar to how the nation’s Universities have dealt with the SCOTUS ruling they cannot discriminate against really smart Asians by imposing racial quotas … they do end-arounds and disguise their discrimination in other “programs” and whatnot.

  2. I see that the latest Fantastic Four movie is bombing like a B-52 at theaters this week.

I’ve been quietly predicting that since the first trailer dropped. I, ancient Marvel comic fan, would not want to be trapped in a theater witnessing the nuclear-level cringe that movie represents. My neck can’t survive that without a fast-forward button to skip the stupid parts.

Silver Surfer is a chick? Susan Richards is a grrl-boss? Pedro Pascal is Reed Richards, the pipe-smoking absentminded professor and smartest man in the world? Ben Grim somehow manages to exude girlie-man vibes despite being made of rock? They included Herbie the cringy robot? Are you kidding me?

Disney and the multitudinous morons who work there think they can chop and channel any intellectual property to match their political agenda of the moment, which clearly they cannot, and none of these appalling cretins has learned anything from Jar Jar Binks.

I’ll wait for it to be on Netflix. There’s probably 20 minutes of watchable movie in there, and the rest can’t bother me if I just ride that fast-forward button. Cowboy up!
