If you imagine an event will happen, is that a guarantee that it will? That certainly seems to encapsulate Doug Ford’s view of our current trade negotiations with the US.
I’ll take “bloviating sanctimonious blowhard” for $100, Alex….
“We have to negotiate through strength,” Ford responds, “and we really have to flex our muscles and make sure President Trump hears us.”
“(Americans) are going to feel the pressure,” Ford says. “They’re going to feel the pressure when Americans start losing their jobs because we’re going to start on-shoring everything, and once that happens, I told Lutnick, it’s hard to turn that tap off.”
All that neural grey matter in Ford’s skull has been replaced with lipids. How does he figure a small insignificant entity will show strength over an entity at least ten times larger?
That is the part that makes this funny. Thug ford may be stupider than the turd and carnage combined.
Sure, Duggie, sure.
Go for it.
FAFO.
He should take a clue from the many nations that have come forward to negotiate acceptable deals with the US. They KNOW the damage that will occur to their country and citizens by taking a confrontational stance. They would get crushed.
Not Blubber Duggie though. Nor Marx Carnage, or Ebby the Dealer.
So be it, bring it on.
“He should take a clue from the many nations that have come forward to negotiate acceptable deals with the US. They KNOW the damage that will occur to their country and citizens by taking a confrontational stance.”
That’s the position that Pierre Poilievre *should have* taken, but didn’t. He saw the gatherings of senior citizens out there waving their little Canadian flags and doing the ‘elbows up’ chicken dance, and decided to join them. Because that’s what ‘Progressive’ Conservatives do…whatever the Liberals do, just slightly differently.
“They would get crushed.”
And rightly so. Reality just doesn’t care about their feelings.
It reminds me of “Finding Nemo”, which is full of fishful winking…
Progressives’ idea of “flexing their muscles” is to make them stronger so we can punch ourselves in the face.
Their idea of teaching “Trump a lesson” for inflicting tariffs and economic harm is to hurt ourselves even more.
“Ourselves” being beleaguered, lied to, trodden upon citizens who are still naive enough to believe statists on the road to our serfdom give a crap about our welfare, or the public good, unless defined as enhancing their power.
After carney Carney’s mendactic Trudeau 2.0 one wonders if they will every learn, before it’s too late and the statists become powerful enough to not care what we think anyway, collectivists unconcerned about election results.
Some argue, with validity imho, we are already there now, and the only solution is to opt out, to separate, to disentangle us from the corrupt collectivists. Their argument gains validity daily with every dystopic dodge.

Is this done with a finger *snap*? Or, is there some other magical ritual that will manifest Canadian industry from the gutted dustbin of Liberal Party history? Green objectives and strengthening (expanding) industry are diametrically opposed ideas. They always have been. But, by repetition of the lie, idiots in office (like Ford) seem to think there is a compatibility. And, the Liberal PM ( and Liberal Legislature) are only leaning one way. It’s NOT towards self-sufficient industrialization. Or, “on-shoring”.
Onshoring citrus and avocados will happen just like “THAT”!
I wonder how fast the Ontario economy would collapse if the US shut down Enbridge Line 5.
Do you know how empowering it is to be able to say “I never cast a ballot for this bloated turd in my entire life”?
Neither did I, McGuinty collapsing my former employer’s industry drove me out.
Start on shoring these Dougy:
Bananas
Coconuts
Mangos
Chocolate
Sugar Cane
Coffee
Rubber
Cotton
……………………………..
I thought Doug would stay afloat due to all the fat, but obviously the hot air is helping as well.
Ooh, that will teach those Yankees. They might not be able to sell into a market with a GDP smaller than New York State!
Gee, I wonder what the shareholders of GM, Ford and Stellantis will do? Stay in a rapidly declining market with an absolutely absurd EV mandate that could see their sales crushed and be forced to pay penalties? Or, consolidate all operations in the largest market in the world with lower taxes, costs and regulations.
I really wonder
The boomer thinks and does whatever the tv tells them to. Doug Ford told the press that Canada is going to show blumpf who’s boss which is so ridiculous it’s unbelievable but boomers believe it 100% because tv man told them so.
Boycott Nvidia, Dole, and Apple.
Yay Canadian independence and self-reliance!
“We have to negotiate through strength,” Ford responds, “and we really have to flex our muscles and make sure President Trump hears us.”
We’re playing Texas Hold Em with a country with 2 aces, and we have a 2 and a 7, off suit.
And Trump knows it.
