Great moments in radio news copy writing: “the suspect is recovering in hospital after being struck in the torso* with ammunition”.

(Police involved shooting report, overheard this morning on Saskatchewan AM radio).

  1. Old lady recovering in hospital after trying to cross the street and getting bumped by a rectangular shaped metal contraption moving via four round rubber bases. The operator of the rectangular metal contraption allegedly attempted to warn the lady via a sound based apparatus.

  2. Smile, wait for flash…

“…the suspect is recovering in hospital after being struck in the torso with ammunition…” In other news, police union threatening to strike for better, bigger guns.

  3. I noticed recently that you can tell when the press is covering for someone when they use the passive voice. They only ever use the active voice when talking about someone they don’t like.

  4. Makes it sound like someone was throwing free boxes of ammunition around and someone fumbled a catch.
Justified is a great series, think I’ll dig out the DVDs and watch it again.
