New Governor, Same As The Old Governor

Michael Taube;

It never made sense that Trudeau, a classic tax-and-spend Liberal who wasted hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars on pet projects, couldn’t meet the NATO defence-spending target.

After the previous Liberal government doubled the national debt in a few short years, one would have hoped that Carney would have taken steps to get federal spending under control, especially while looking to increase defence spending by a whopping $9.3 billion this year.

Yet his massive spending plan, detailed in the government’s main estimates, which were tabled late last month, shows he plans on spending at least $486.9 billion — more than Trudeau spent in his final year. And that number will likely increase when it’s updated to include the $24 billion worth of spending promises Carney made during the election.

Making matter worse, Carney told an audience at Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs that, “We will ensure every dollar is invested wisely, including by prioritizing made-in-Canada manufacturing and supply chains,” and that, “We should no longer send three-quarters of our defence capital spending to America.”

While the Liberal Kool-Aid drinkers will lap up this political rhetoric, his strategy will only serve to increase costs and ensure we get less bang for our buck. After all, the U.S. is far more advanced militarily, and its defence industries have significant economies of scale.

And fewer opportunities for graft.

Update, complete with body language tells: Watch Mark Carney not answer the question regarding if Canadians will see tax increases to cover his excessive spending.

  1. Orville and Wilbur would be proud.
The Dawn of Canadian sound-seeking projectiles, and offensive hang gliders.

  2. “We should no longer send three-quarters of our defence capital spending to America.”

As an American and not wanting to seem ignorant, how is Canada “sending” 75% of their “defence capital” to the United States?” I mean, is Canada going to build F-35’s, Apache helicopters, radars, electronic equipment and so forth?

That’s not “sending’ capital – that is “spending” on the best fighter jet in the world. Ask the Mullahs – hundreds of sorties by Israel and not one plane even scratched. If they had shot one down as claimed, they would be parading the pilot around and pointing to the debris field as they did when they shot down a few of our 100 km/h drones. Yeah, so didn’t happen.

Is Canada going to start a 5th generation fighter plane industry? Where will it source all the parts, electronics, etc? From Honduras? Because the F-35 is a 5th gen fighter. Boeing just got the contract for the 6th gen fighter.

There are economies of scale and Carney is lying if he doesn’t see that. The US does not “need” Canada to buy a few F-35’s when so many other countries are receiving and wanting them. Canada has none yet and they are using 1980 airplanes – American F-18’s.

Carney is a clown. Sorry he is your PM. Then again we had Obama and Biden.

    1. Have you seen the “Smarter Every Day” video where the guy tries to make a barbecue brush entirely in the USA? TL/DR version, he tried for four (4!) years to get it done, and at the end had to admit defeat.

He’s now selling the barbecue brush for ~$75 US on his website with 98% of the brush made in the USA, there were a couple of the components he simply could not get made in America for any money. Nobody does it.

Notice the price. Seventy five bucks, that’s a bunch of money for a barbecue brush. It has maybe 10 parts, including the packaging. Look it up, definitely worth seeing for a sobering view of how things are right now.

Imagine trying to build a tank, or a missile. Thousands of parts. Computer chips. Software. Good luck, bro.

Now imagine trying to do the same thing in Canada, where even hockey sticks are imported from China. #CarkMarny is just laughing now. He’ll probably buy from S. Korea, unless he decides to go full retard and buys from Russia and China. I wouldn’t put it past him.

  3. Carney said Canada will meet the 5% spending target. How bad is the economy going to crash?

    1. Doesn’t matter. His out? “We wuz just follerin’ what NATO wanted when we bankrupted the country.”

    2. Carney said he’s meet the 5% target by engaging in accounting tricks, and selling whatever “Rare Earth” minerals miners dig up and counting that as investing in defense.

  4. Remember the goal – a WEF guided communist tyranny. Carney only makes insane sense if you accept that premise. If your goal is the destruction of everything and replacement of everything with a communist Utopia, as per Karl Marx, then the insanity makes sense. That is how warped Carney’s worldview is – total destruction in order to profit from the chaos and disaster for everyone and everything else. And why? Because Karl Marx was a human hating wastrel that would have taken his family’s fortunes into the ground if he been given the opportunity. None of his children survived (legitimate or bastards), thankfully.

  5. There is nothing about it that will make sense if you expect the goal is a military that is significantly better equipped, more capable, with the personnel to function.
The logic being employed by Carney is to use an accounting trick to designate any spending that can be remotely associated to defence as part of defence spending.
    Example
Spending on a daycare center in a location close to one of the bases will be deemed defence spending because it will give CAF personnel an opportunity to receive the services (no verification will be required only the supposition that because they built it the personnel have the choice to use it even if they don’t).
You are about to witness a scam that all previous liberal malfeasance will pale in comparison.
Billions will be “contracted” for services designated as “defence spending” without so much as one more round of ammo over what is already being purchased.
A smart journalist will start asking if a pipeline through Quebec can be considered “defence spending”?

    1. “A smart journalist will start asking if a pipeline through Quebec can be considered “defence spending”?”

If that happened I’d actually be okay with it, they could lie all day long about the money.

But sadly, there will never be a pipeline through Quebec while a #Lieberal sits in the PMO. It just isn’t going to happen.

But there might be a gun registry that gets called defense spending. They milked $2 billion out of it last time, they can probably double or triple that if it’s for the Army.

      1. They will claim that their “Assault Style Weapon” “Buyback” should be considered “Defense Spending”

  6. 1. 13 days ago Canadian military personnel to get 20 per cent pay hike, defence minister says
“…the defence minister stated in another interview that the pay hike would be immediate. “It’s about a 20-per-cent pay increase immediately for our members,” McGuinty said in an interview with Newstalk 1010 radio.”

    2. 4 days ago Ottawa considering ‘combination of approaches’ to 20% military pay hike
Oh oh. I think we’ve all seen this movie before.

    3. 2 daysGovernment changing tune on 20-per-cent pay hike for Canadian Forces personnel
    https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/canada/government-changing-tune-on-20-per-cent-pay-hike-for-canadian-forces-personnel/ar-AA1Hel96

    That’s a wrap.

  7. I don’t believe the gov’t of Canada will increase their defense spending.
Without an audit clearly showing Canada’s military expenditures and knowing Canada’s history of military spending in these past decades, I expect “bold faced lies” to prevail, and for the liars, THE LIARS in Ottawa, to respond that they’re doing what’s best for Canada.

No budget, no oversight, no proof that these expenditures will take place, no answers in our garbage parliament, opposition may ask, “Mr. Speaker when will the gov’t show they are serious about this issue” … and the gov’t bench responds with garbage like, “Mr. Speaker the opposition doesn’t support us doing what Canadians have asked us to do”
The opposition may ask, “Mr. Speaker is there a massive debt problem facing the gov’t of Canada”? The gov’t bench responds with, “Mr. Speaker the opposition doesn’t want us to do what Canadians have demanded we do”
    No real answers, ever.
The opposition asks if there is a Yes or a NO response to whatever, the gov’t bench responds with, “Mr. Speaker the opposition doesn’t support whatever”

It’s all theatre, It’s all lies all the time, #Libranos the NDP, they are all garbage.

  8. Agree with all of you.
Liberals are liars, accounting bullshitters and Carney isn’t fooling anyone but fools.
    BUT!
I’ll sell the authoritarian thieves – who have made four of my rifles illegal – some assualty lookin weapons for a mere $25,000 each. The .22 and the two 9mm.
(I’m keepin the 5.56 for the inevitable shitstorm.)

  9. When the Liberals say “invest” or “investing” , hold onto your wallets.
If possible, take all your cash out of the bank, other than the bare minimum to cover essential payments.

  10. We are in this mess for two reasons.

    A) The “Elbows Up!” retards.
    B) PP suffering full TDS instead of keeping the focus on the Lieberal’s reign of error for the last decade.

A third reason, if you care, is that 60% of Kanadians will always support the Left in one form or another whether it is Lieberal, Dipper or Watermelon. Too many Kanadian sheeple only care about free stuff for themselves and that no one else is allowed to get ahead. This “Post National” state will be gone before the next election. Unfortunately, the West will go down with it.

    1. The west will go down because like all other Canadians, they are cowards who crave the firm hand of mommy government guiding them. Shithole.
