It’s Probably Nothing

More at Reuters.

The decision by the U.S. to evacuate some personnel comes at a volatile moment in the region. Trump’s efforts to reach a nuclear deal with Iran appear to be deadlocked and U.S. intelligence indicates that Israel has been making preparations for a strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities.

“They are being moved out because it could be a dangerous place, and we’ll see what happens,” Trump told reporters. “We’ve given notice to move out.”

Asked whether anything can be done to lower the temperature in the region, Trump said: “They can’t have a nuclear weapon. Very simple, they can’t have a nuclear weapon.”

  1. Iraq!?? I thought we had accomplished our mission there? I thought we had converted the ROP to open-minded, Western “Democracy”. I thought ALL of Iraq had become a “Green Zone”? I thought we had “won the hearts and minds of the Arab street”?

Trump-hating George Bush told me so.

  2. BTW … if … if … Iran attains a Nuclear weapon … I will spit on the grave of Jimmy Carter who facilitated the FIRST chapter of the radical Muslim Spring. Then, I will call for the imprisonment of Barrack Obama and Valerie Jarrett … for life … or worse. Their crime? Endangering the entire planet

    1. Carter was naive, the others, they want the west to lose, they think they will rule in the moose limb world.

      1. Speaking of naive … Carter was the FIRST POTUS I ever voted for. Why? Because he was an “honest” Christian who admitted in a Playboy interview that he sometimes lusted after women other than Roselyn. I thought that was refreshingly candid, and spoke to the fact that the flesh is weak, but our spirit needs to rise above it.

Boy howdy was I naive. And by the time my very first mortgage was 16.5% … VARIABLE! I was done with the moron.

  3. I suspect there is more to it. China is very involved in assisting Iran with their nuclear program. I find it hard to believe that that issue didn’t come up during the Chinese US economic talks over the last week. Yesterday, an agreement is announced, the next day Iran drops out of talks with the US, and Israel is rattling the saber.

At the same time, Iran is looking at inflation rates approaching 40% with no slow down in sight.

Any way you look at it, Iran is backed into a corner. They can make all the noise they want on the world stage, but internally their infrastructure and economy are a shambles. That’s ripe territory for a revolution, and they need a distraction badly.

  4. I’m not worried about Israel being able to step into the arena with Iran.
I’m more concerned of China seizing the moment in which Israel and the USA are being occupied by the M.E. while the People’s Republic of China unleashes on the Republic of China.
