  1. Are the unionized shipbuilders working in Vancouver on tier 2 Canada’s new Navy ships aware of this? Is the NDP closing the door on support from unionized ship builders?

No carbon tax in the CCP bid, no Canadian steel from Hamilton Ont, no Canadian workers for this project, near zero environmental regulation.

Maybe the #Libranos collected a kickback from the bid? Ask them… it’s a fair question given the shenanigans in the past few years (10 years!) with that crew.

    1. “No carbon tax in the CCP bid, no Canadian steel from Hamilton Ont, no Canadian workers for this project, near zero environmental regulation….”

And, most surprising of all, no whining from Quebec! Hmmmmm…

  2. I cringe at the prospect of me watching the sinking of one of these ChiCom vessels, due to faulty steel, faulty welding, faulty all-around build. Lowest bidder. Lowest quality. Buh bye taxpayer $$$

  3. Well, your choice is the 100% tariff on canola, or allowing China to have free reign in selling their fire trap EV’s in Canada. I don’t see a winning choice.

    1. Au contrare, Orson. Those fire trap Chinese EV’s are Darwinism at it’s finest. Let ‘er rip.

  4. At least the German built ferries kind of work most of the time. These chicom ships will be absolute trash.

  5. Google Glen Clark Fast Ferries for a classic example of government incompetence and ignorance.
I’m suprised they didn’t try this again.

    1. Oh, the “Cats” with no capacity and mega damage to the shoreline due to huge wakes.

  6. I understand that the Chinese ferries have a hidden “back door” ; in the event of a military conflict between the West and China a large plug in the hull can be remotely removed by Chyna.

  7. Another glittering example of Canadian idiocy. I’ve put forward a combined theory here over the last few years and called it the Goebbels-Milgram-Grandin theory, but I think there are too many words there for it to be understood by the average Canadian so I’m changing the title to the Antenor Theory. It runs along these lines the media tells you what the government wants you to believe (Goebbels), then the government tells the experts what they have to say to get you to behave as they want you too (Milgram), then the people all fall in line because they believe there is safety in the herd (Grandin). This applies to everything happening in Canada right now. Here we’re told by the government that we need ferries but we are told because we have no steel industry (it is not carbon friendly) by the experts we need to import them from China (it used to be Poland) so the majority of Canadians who do not live on the coasts go along with the majority and accept the fact that we’ll import these ferries from China. This theory worked so well in the Covid Scam that it can now be used everywhere.

  8. Bribery and money laundering, straight up. Will bet that TD Bank is involved in the financing.

  9. Guess what will be “unavailable” redacted or missing files?
“Following a rigorous global procurement process which included a public Request for Proposals, bid evaluations and site visits,”.
    BC ferries does not care.
When these vessels turn out to be inoperable, they will get moored up alongside the Electric ferries and carefully ignored.

  10. The contempt the Left has for the Canadian taxpayer is unparalleled. See also story on Libranos and their procurement and payment policies. They couldn’t care less what something costs, nor do they care if it is value for money. Follow the money. It is probably somehow ending up in Laurentian Canada.

Interesting, the CEO of BC Ferries is named Nicolas Jimenez. https://www.timescolonist.com/national-business/minister-flags-concern-over-bc-ferries-deal-with-chinese-state-owned-shipyard-10790004. I thought the Elbows Up crowd wanted to support Canadian business. Silly me.

As for the comment that Quebec hasn’t raised a fuss, neither have the Atlantic shipyards. Something funky is definitely going on here.
