This Is CNN

Post Millennial;

CNN Chief National Security correspondent Alex Marquardt is leaving the outlet after eight years, after his reporting on Navy veteran Zachary Young cost CNN $5 million following a defamation suit. […]

Marquardt was at the center of a defamation case filed against CNN by Young, who in 2021 was working to evacuate Afghans during the Biden administration’s chaotic military withdrawal from that nation. Per the Daily Mail, Marquardt wrote to members of the team that worked on the November 2021 report, “We’re gonna nail this Zachary Young mf**ker.” The message was part of texts that were used against Marquardt in the case.

Marquardt’s report was aired on the Lead with Jake Tapper, the episode in which it premiered opened with Tapper claiming that Afghans attempting to flee the nation “face[d] a black market full of promises, demand of exorbitant fees and no guarantee of safety or success.” Tapper then cut to Marquardt, who claimed that an Afghan man located in the US had found people on Facebook charging $10,000 to evacuate people from Afghanistan.

He claimed that “desperate Afghans are now being exploited,” and used b-roll that featued a LinkedIn post from Young. Young had said during the trial that he never accepted money from those needing rescue, and that he had relied on corporate and NGO sponsorships to help.

  1. To me it’s not so much the false story, which, don’t get me wrong, is bad enough, but it’s the utter mean spiritedness demonstrated by this guy. I mean, he sought to ruin this veteran’s life.
    Marquardt was born in the low ’80’s…I think it was around then that punching someone in the face for being a dick was discouraged at least from a societal point of view.

    1. Yup. It’s the revenge of the beta males. It’s the same fear and hatred that the turdos and the coynes of the world have for the military and the working class.

  2. Nice to see some of these defamation suits succeeding, as it is apparently one of the only effective means to hold lying MSM accountable. I hope Trump’s suit against CBS and 60 Minutes destroys that network.

  3. Why didn’t CNN go after that motha…fing Joe Biden who FAILED to plan for evacuating the American allied Afghani’s who provided help for our troops? Yeah, because CNN was on the Taliban’s side … they’re always on the side of every enemy of America. The enemy of their enemy is their friend.

  4. Rush Limbaugh often noted that whoever looks to be a failure to conservatives is always rewarded and/or promoted by the left. Alex Marquardt should apply for the evening anchor slot at MSNBC now that highly touted former Biden press secretary Jen Psaki has lower ratings then “Paw Patrol”.

  5. Marquardt didn’t charge but how would anyone charging $10,000 to be evacuated from Afghanistan be considered exploitative. What should people risking their lives charge to evacuate others? Especially after the US military did their chicken poop routine.

    1. Just curious … what was Halliburton charging to evacuate our Afghan allies? Remember them?
