1. the acceptance of Islam in Canada neatly coincides with the rejection of Christianity as a moral and ethical foundation for a just society. Those who govern us ( and fund public education), in their efforts to appear to be fully secular have greatly aided this process. and then there is the perception that Islam is on the ascendancy and resistance is futile. the result is that Canadian society is characterized by a mix of envy and cowardice. It should come as no surprise that the independence movement in the West is growing daily. we are not blind to what has happened in the UK and the rest of Europe.

   1. The question is what does a potentially independent Alberta do with almost 5% of its population being Muslim including the current leader of the Opposition? Western civilization survived by keeping them out. Too late for that unless mass religion-based deportations are allowed under the new Constitution. Other than protected free speech to criticize and ridicule the retrograde religion like all others, state discrimination is not something most people want to sign-on to.

      1. Might they be legally restricted to the far northern latitudes? Or perhaps simply outlawing incest and beating one’s spouse…

         Perhaps “most people” don’t understand the facts. This data was for years unavailable to the general public in Sweden, because, you know, they can’t “discriminate” by distributing the actual facts.

John, you are absolutely correct; protected free speech is the best option available. my understanding is that a draft Alberta constitution currently in progress is very much modeled on the US constitution, meaning that the Alberta equivalent of the First and Second amendments are nearly note-for-note. maybe we will get that long overdue public debate on Islam after all.
