Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Quebec’s proposed French-language quotas for streaming giants could also make the streaming giants say, “Screw this. Buh-bye.”
If there was enough market there to make a decent profit, or at least not lose money, it would have already been done.
Why wouldn’t they say bye bye, just like Meta did. It will just be replaced by a government program. Get ready to pay up.
LOL it’s bad enough so many of our cable channels now contain all contain Canadian content, awful just awful stuff, who’s going to produce French crap for Queerbec??
Heh…someone’s still on cable?
I left the room and turned those lights off over a decade ago however, to have internet access here it must be bundled with cable so that the CBC and other Canadian media producers get money forcibly taken from us. I will switch to Starlink when available.
“According to Menzies, the biggest risk is that what Quebec believes it needs will be applied across the country”
There’s no precedent for that is there?
Can’t wait to be rid of those bast@rds one way or another.
Vee Pee Enn.
And PQ can go fornicate itself.
Quebec can have the Quebec pension plan create and fully fund (invest) in a Quebecois internet provider.
Maybe Quebec should just leave. They would be much happier. And not put up with the English Monarchy who apparently just overflew sovereign Quebec soil.
flyover country
Constitutional crisis is a bit overblown, nobody cares…
““The challenges facing our cultural businesses are numerous, from audience renewal to ensuring adequate funding,” said Eve Paré, the executive director for l’Adisq, an association representing more than 200 companies in the music industry.”
Oh look, yet another corporatist who thinks the government should extort money from the people at the point of a gun in order to fund her preferred people.
The companies will look at that, and say your market isn’t big enough, so bye.
This is nothing more than Queeebec being Queeebec ….poke ROC in the eye again and again . Please leave and let Alberta keep their 10 B .
You would think people would be wise to this shtick by now. Demand the impossible, make a bunch of fuss, threaten the End of Canada!!! and then quietly make a deal behind closed doors to extort the companies for some kickback. Rinse, repeat. How many times have we seen this?
I would love to see US streaming companies refuse to do business in Canada over this. They don’t bother with North Korea, why would they put up with the PQ?
The CBC (championing all things Quebec and Liberal), costs taxpayers a hospital somewhere in Canada, each and every year. Add on Canada Post, and that’s two hospitals a year. Using that yardstick, how imoprtant are these two entities to Canadians?
you said it cynic.
and as the boomers age and need more medical care are they going to continue to vote Liberal and exasperate their own situation?
yup.
ah what to do when life has morphed in a quasi-Shakespearean tragi-comedy.
a t’were he with us today the juicy stuff he would find in it all.
and get his bank acct locked down, his works censored, piloried in the press, his house smeared with worse than paint.
Wow. The first nation grifters should get in on this scheme next. Can’t wait to have dozens of dead-language podcasts paid for by working Canadians.
Meh.. I’m already not a fan of modern WOKE entertainment.. I do not subscribe.. But I sure do pay for it.. Even that’s not true because its all borrowed money anyway.. I sort of pay the interest for it.. Meh..
I have to admit, between this and the rail blockades I’m really coming around to the position of “you lost, and you’d better start acting like it”.
The underlying message though is, as always, “We’re special and need to be treated as such.”
In Canada that gets you money – unless you’re white and speak English – so why shouldn’t they?
Has Trump heard of this? I’ll bet he’ll be sympathetic to fwenchies whining.
Hell the Catholic Church were rattled by the Trumpster when he said he was thinking about becoming pope -they promptly installed a guy from Chicago. They weren’t taking any chances… ha
Is this a plot to make up for the billions of handouts from Alberta that they are going to loose (finally) when Independence day comes along? Quebec does nothing other than scheme with the Liberals to steal everyone else’s money. It has always been this way. It needs to end.
I think Quebec should push this as hard as they can. Start fining companies and individuals with the maximum penalties as an absolute minimum. Bring this to its logical conclusion as quickly as possible.
