Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

It won’t be it a yard that big.
This looks like a “laneway” house, or what we’d have referred to as a converted garage a decade ago. It’s not large enough to have a home business of any type in, and street parking for everyone is going to be a treat.
Saw a guy who’d posted his civic taxes on X/Twitter a few days ago, he has a townhouse (attached row housing which is owned as part of a condo development) here in Calgary and because the assessment has risen from $600x to $800x his civic taxes have taken a jump into the “get a part time job” range…
I’m starting to think that with the dramatic rise in civic taxes it may be necessary to rent out your back 30 feet of a yard to have one of these built, of course that comes with a larger tax bill as well.
It appears, the gov’t hates you, me, everyone.
Marc
Don’t worry Jyoti (Calgary’s mayor) will soon let people build these small houses on top of their backyard garages.
Meanwhile, single family homes in my neighborhood are being replaced by six three story shoeboxes. All the trees are being cut down.
she has a preference for that New Delhi look.
It’s government approved poverty so canadians are going to love it!
Well it’s not like there is any building room to spare… Winnipeg is bumping up against Toronto and Regina is built up right to the burbs of Winnipeg…
Ok, that deserves a sensible chuckle…
Its gridlock from Winnipeg to Regina as cars jostle with the prairie dogs to escape Manitoba potholes.
Smaller than a one-bedroom apartment, usually around 500 square feet. True, but it does please the Commissar.
They’re already setting up excuses for their failures causing demolished standards of living and deepened poverty.
Existential crises all. That they caused and then present themselves as the only saviours.
Covid, Trump, Climate Change, Extreme Right Wingers.
To their power and thus benefit.
One third does all the work, the living and the taxpaying, one third consumes that, and one third administers it.
The problem is when the latter two-thirds votes itself power, it inevitably runs out of the producers’ money.
While blaming and taxing those who make it and doubling down on taxation, followed by oppression.
With the poorest taking the hit, like Western Canada and health care, invisible participants in the last election.
This won’t end well because it logically can’t, and already hasn’t, notwithstanding (I wish) big baby boomer voters.
I’ve been dropping Rooster Town comments for awhile now, and its coming true.
https://roostertown.lib.umanitoba.ca/
Roostertown? Great place for a cocktail bar.
I remember those units, or ones like them, being advertised as suitable for a home office or an air bnb rental unit. Let me know when at least 30 MPs have lived in at most 30 of those units with their families for at least a year. I’ll be interested in hearing their spouse’s and children’s opinions after that.
That’s not even a shed in Rockcliffe Park, Ottawa.
https://nationalpost.com/news/canada/what-to-know-about-rockcliffe
“There are few neighbourhoods in Canada as wealthy as Rockcliffe Park”
Multimillionaires on civil servants’ salaries. Gotta love those kickbacks.
If it makes you feel better we have been rezoned for that where I live in Tennessee. And you can just put up a duplex wherever and all you need is 0.7parking spaces per unit. The US government has pushed for high density housing with lots of “incentives”.
So. COVID hits and the strategy for 6uilding 6ack 6etter is to separate … nay MANDATE the separation of people … preventing them from encroaching within 6ft of one another. Isolate people from one another. FEAR other people … who could be just the Typhoid Mary or AIDS Patient Zero who will KILL you!! Gavin Newsom BANNED beach lounging!!
Hence … the logical extension of this FORCED isolation is to live in “tiny homes”. No room for a wife. No room for children. Be sure to abort any mistakes. Claustrophobic construction. But paint them MILK RED … and slap ironically oversized battens on em … and they’ll look all “homey” and whatnot. They’ll harken back to a rural barn from the 1790’s. But the farm animals of the 1700’s were treated better than humans jammed into 450 sq.ft.
Once again … the government is creating the conditions for total isolation. The government wants its subjects separated from one another. Yes, it makes em easier to control.
Still better than living in a tent city.
Put a headstone on top and a cremation furnace out back and you’re ready for extermination at the first sniffle.
A trailer park by any other name.. I’m just not sure the homeless are looking for garden shed homes.. Out in the middle of nowhere.. Where is the fun in that?..
you will all be Bubbles in Sunnyvale
As long as boomers don’t have to live in them who cares
These kinds of things are about the same as climate change predictions of doom. Oh well, something’s going to kill you.
Just got my assessment. It’s up 25%. Looks like that’s the new model. I am not sure why they bothered with the performance of pretending to actually assessment the properties .
How’d you guys get a picture of my house?
fc
Toilet shopping! That’s how.
Considering the verbal sewage that constantly comes out of your mouth, I would think you’d be an expert…
…in toilets!
Meanwhile in Toronto, nobody wants to buy a 550 sq ft condo.

The housing problem cannot be solved with smaller units.
Shrinking housing opportunies (pardon the pun) is one consequence of a society having lived beyond its means for some time and the bill is starting to come due.
We are regressing toward Bunkhouses.
The “Company Store” is already back, just ask any “Temporary worker”.
Our so called leaders will only be happy when the feudal system is back to normal, with them as the duly annoited Lords.
The entitled ones want their privileges back.
You shall have the right to bow and scrape before them.
Can Ahh Duh is well down this path, having used the fake rights of the Human Rights Tribunals and Pierre the Evil Idiot’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms to strip the citizens of their Legal rights and protections..
So far down this path that the rights of a British Freeman are considered “Alt Right Terrorism.”
Where “Truth is NOT a defence” before a HRC..
And where the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, starts by stripping you of all protection from Idiotic Government.
The funny side of all this..Is that all these protestations of Human Rights and freedoms, protect the Parasitic Overload.
The very same people who seek to restrict everyone else’s freedom.
When “Due Process” is gone.
Why would one follow the destroyer rules?
So what is the difference between compound stupidity and Evil?
Or is Evil best defined as Compound Stupidity?
The willingness to cut off your nose to spite your face?
The utter idiocy of career bureaucrats offering up 5 and 10 year plans, backed with buckets of borrowed money..
To “Solve” a situation they created???
Impossible to parody.
Government is why tax payers are impoverished.
More government will impoverish the tax payer even further.
Too many Takers.
Makers are making their break for freedom.
Tiny houses=modern trailer parks.
