  1. Imagine that, the will of the people being ignored when things don’t go the way of those who would otherwise profit from a scam.

The optics aren’t great when the people can’t be suckered into nodding their heads at a pre-approved plan. It is always better to maintain the illusion of democracy and following the will of the people. But b/c that isn’t what happened, the controlled media will instead focus on the “good” of this moronic resource-wasting idiocy.

    1. Even though RMs are made up of your neighbours once you get a group of people sitting around a table and making decisions they tend to act like every other politician or bureaucrat. It is NOT the RM’s land, it is yours. They are not actually elected or designed to make these type of decisions as historically concepts such as wind farms and solar farms clearly did not exist and are clearly NOT actually a farm in the agricultural sense. The effects of wind farms in particular for soil moisture and pollinator population concerns is deeply troubling. Normally RM decisions do not lead to one landowner making a ton of money while risking the potential of others to make money on their land However, wind farms do just that. So, will RMs accept the liability once moisture levels are proven to be at risk??
Also, I am fully aware of some weyburn RM members that are personally profitting from this, utter BS!

And for WHAT, we have all the coal we need and we can scrub CO2 quite effectively (not that it is a problem anyways). So, we are appeasing ignorant city folk for nothing!

Finally, landowners who want turbines on their land should be aware, they will be left holding the bag when it comes to long term environmental damage or clean up costs. These won’t materialise 25 years down the road, they will start happening in 5 to 10. The energy companies will either sell off their bad assets or walk away, you won’t be able to go after them. Guess who is next in line? The farmer, and if he goes broke, the RM. Good luck with that.

    1. Not just hail but also high winds and tornados in that area of the province. My bet is that within 5 years after completion those solar panels will be out of commission. Fragile, delicate systems do not survive long in Saskatchewan.

      1. Umm… It was not a solar project, rather wind (still not practical).

  2. Was there ever any chance of this thing not getting approved? Strongly doubt it.

That’s how things are done now. Public input is for window dressing to make the rubes feel like they matter, it doesn’t alter the decision.
