Yes, the ‘CUSMA already exists’, yet it is certainly not exhaustive in regards to the products and commodities traded across the border. It is my understanding that much of the trade being tariff’d is not covered within the CUSMA. That being said, the Trump administration also takes a dim view of a ‘free-trade’ partner such as Canada warehousing and repackaging Chinese goods to export to the US as ‘made in Canada’ in order to evade US tariffs against them, especially while China is systematically destroying Canada’s economy with actual ‘live’ tariffs, as opposed to proposed ones from the US. If I have it all twisted, straighten me out..

Just say what you mean: you want trade deals with the EU and China because that is considered a good option that allows you to ‘stick it to the Americans!’, and it’s the resources only that they want; the only ones who ever gave two figs about any manufacturing sector business with you was the U.S. and you’re in the process of royally screwing up with regards to that — so…exactly what the Liberals are promising you is what Pollievre and his Conservatives are now promising you. President Donald J. Trump has been negotiating deals for 50 years, and a guy who successfully plagiarised his PhD and has already said that this, that, and the other thing, and especially dairy, is never going to be on the table… is going to use all his book smarts to outsmart him.
And if he can’t out negotiate Trump, he’s going to convince us to trade only by ships to Europe or Asia, because it’s so much easier to do than just send it south by truck or rail.

I actually agree with your Garden Gnome PM on this one. He shouldn’t be negotiating anything until he has a mandate from your voters to proceed on 4/28. His problem is that he is answering questions based on a self-perceived trust that isn’t deserved at present. I see that more as a failing of your structure of government (and elections) than failings of the Garden Gnome.
