“Made In Canada” signs at the grocery store, on:
Coconut products
Papaya products
Mango products
Carry on.
The products and concentrates are almost free from shithole countries. Processing and packaging costs in Canada are more than 50%, hence “made in Canada.” Not exactly a mystery. “Product of Canada” implies about 90% plus Canadian.

If only global warming was sufficiently real so as to have us grow our own coffee. I suspect though, we’d soon have a Canadian Coffee Marketing Board staffed with #Libranos demanding to set a minimum price, and working conditions…
Green coffee beans from Central and South America. Roast it up and, voila, it’s now called Canadian.
Morons. Made in canada.
Exactly. This is why those apathetic Gen Z voters need to get off their asses and vote, b/c we all know the useless boomers are for Carnage and the Liebrals (for the most part).
That being said, there is no strong alternative, truly right wing party in Canada. I’ll hold my nose a vote for Kevin Waugh(bly) and PeePee’s cons.
the useless boomers are for Carnage and the Liebrals (for the most part)
Phuque you & not even close.
Agreed. I’m a Boomer and I hated Lieberals, Dippers and related Commies my whole life. Don’t have much trust in PC’s either.
I don’t think Hammy’s throwing insults.
Lotsa Boomers are Liberal voters.
That’s a fact.
Especially the Wine Hags and Upper Middle Class Prunes.
Another “Luxury Belief”
The “Buy Canadian” movement is fairly inconsequential, but resisting Trump is not.
Trump is far more vulnerable than many recognize. Should his tariffs and the subsequent countervailing tariffs put America into a recession and raise prices, public support for him will wither on the vine. Congressional Republicans, recognizing that they are in jeopardy of losing their seats in the upcoming midterm elections, may move to limit Trump’s manuveurs, possibly even revoking legislation that allows the president to impose tariffs.
Dream on
Hilarious.
What’s hilarious is Trump thinking he can start a trade war his two of his biggest trading partners without consequences to America and to him.
As his popularity continues to increase across all metrics. Even some ardent Dems here in Florida have little to say about the policies….they don’t like the man but they like the result.
I was thinking of starting a cucumber grow op when I return to TGWN if I can just get a few hundred million dollar seed money…..what’s that? It’s been tryed? what were the results?
No, Trump’s popularity has fallen somewhat, especially when it comes to his handling the economy.
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2025/03/11/what-is-trumps-current-approval-rating-economic-fears-drive-drop/82268171007/
We all know and accept EXACTLY what Trump has said … he’s playing the LONG game. Of restoring American manufacturing and strengthening our economy. We’ll endure a little more inflation of the few products that will be impacted as we pull manufacturing back across the border.
So enjoy your little tantrum … while that giant sucking sound is our jobs LEAVING Canada and returning to the US. No offense, but gawwwd you’re dumb … and short sighted.
I’m the one having the tantrum here, Kenji. You’re the one insulting when you hear an opinion you don’t like.
Trump doesn’t have time to play “the long game”. It takes many years to transform an economy, and midterm elections are less than 20 months away. Should congress turn on him, either through Democratic majorities or Republicans who jump off his bandwagon, Trump will find it tough sledding for the 2nd half of his term.
At any rate, Trump’s professed policies are not based on sound economics, and the long term may not be as rosy as he thinks.
KM, Trump turned the ecomony around in his first term.
Lupus:
Trump did not impose widespread tariffs in his first term. Nor did he threaten and polarize his major trading partners, or scare the bejeezus out of investors.
I hoping investors get another good round of scaring … hopefully find a new bottom for the Trump tariff hysteria. Yeah … I’m buying more stocks now than in 2020 when COVID crashed the market. Gooooooo frightened investors and major investment houses who want to make Trump look bad … sell sell sell … so I can buy buy buy! You’re creating a SWEET artificial DIP to buy-into!!! More Panic! More hysteria! The market recovery last week pissed me off. Stop it. Sell sell sell!!! “Prove Trump’s an idiot”. “Prove Trump is crashing the economy”! I’ll buy buy buy your irrational hysteria.
“What’s hilarious is Trump thinking he can start a trade war his two of his biggest trading partners without consequences to America and to him.”
The consequences will be a better deal for America, whose people he represents. They know this. They are onboard with this. They WANT this.
You, on the other hand, are like a whining toddler lamenting the fact that no one is paying any attention to your ‘wisdom’…
I doubt very much that Americans are on board with this. Trump promised to make America great again — not many years from now, but right away — and that’s what the electorate will expect.
On the campaign trail, he claimed that food prices would start dropping “on day one” of his presidency. He has since gone silent on food prices, now saying Americans may have to put up with some temporary pain. Tariffs on Mexican and Canadian imports are not going to do food prices any favours. That’s not what most Trump voters signed up for.
Hardcore Trump supporters will probably stay on board — save those who lose their jobs — but most of those who voted for him are not hardcore. Their allegiance is dependent on performance, particularly regarding the economy.
KM, it’s amazing how you can read the minds of so many Americans. Tell us what your secret is so it can be bottled and sold.
There’s always a market for snake oil.
Lupus: Just responding to “Fred from BC”‘s Kreskin act, which you apparently have no issue with.
The US trade reliance is 1/20th Canada’s, the partners lose first and harder.
KM, you also ignore the Dems are at 27% approval, lowest in history.
Yes, it’ll be much harder on Canada. This is obvious, yet people keep repeating it like it’s a profound insight.
But that ain’t the point. When you take on a bully, you’re probably going to lose. But if you can leave some scar tissue on him, he’ll likely back off in favour of easier targets.
A recession or renewed inflation (or both) would send a message to the American people that tariffs are not a free lunch, and they’ll start asking some hard questions.
I wonder why you think he’s thinking there won’t be “consequences.” Everything has consequences, some good, some bad often some of each. Donald Trump has been doing things of consequence all his life, with varied results. He has made and lost and made fortunes again. He has run for President of the U.S.A. three times winning more often than losing.
Here you are just another self-appointed critic posting under an alias.
You must spend most of the day pleasuring yourself, eh? Because that dribble of mental masturbation suggests you engage in the physical act as well. Relentlessly.
I actually LOVE what Trump is doing, while you’re just self-loving …
Keep it clean, perv.
Then it’s no longer fun.
The US has been in recession for at least 3 months, Canada going on 2 years. The “free” money to migrants and it’s increased velocity has masked it from the official stats, but when GDP per capita declines, people are in a personal recession. With the migrant tap turned off, and deficit cuts, the country wide stats will reflect it as well.
With a lefty like the Carnholer, I would imagine the first deficit will be north of 100 Billion, but he will have done the magic investment vs. spending trick, no matter how ludicrous the definition, and enough spending will dissapear from the general fund to show a reduced deficit. The bond market will be unimpressed, and what follows will be serious stagflation. Prepare for pain.
There are enough in congress who realize there is no more can kicking that Trump will get his way. More companies are announcing investments in the USA that it will also mitigate the effect. Canada will deservedly be crushed.
My local grocery stores are putting up Canadian flag stickers, well in the dairy and egg isle few if any in the rest of the store.
What? No 260% tariff stickers on the American-made butter?
Kenji, you have to realize that whenever Trump states something, it’s some combination of hyperbole, fact and complete BS. The dairy tariffs are a bit of all 3. The tariffs exist, but the tariff is 0% up to 100’s of millions of exports. A number agreed to in a treaty. American dairy farmers freely ship massive amounts of product to Canada tariff free. Canada has massive restrictions on dairy internally with our quotas, that’s the only real issue.
Not disagreeing but why are the butter prices so high if there are massive amounts coming in? Is it bought cheap by the dairy cartel and re-sold for huge profit?
Must be the cow flu … a subsidiary of the bird flu that’s made my local grocery store have exactly 0-eggs to buy for days on end … and then at 8.99/doz. And yes … there actually WAS a cow-acquired bird flu scare. Enough to move markets … or so we’re told.
I work for a small manufacturer. We source ingredients for the product , equipment and materials for packaging in Canada as much as we can, of course, but sometimes it just makes too much sense to resist buying from a foreign supplier. E.g. the Made in Canada sticker on the package comes from U-Line and is printed in the U.S.A.
“My local grocery stores are putting up Canadian flag stickers, well in the dairy and egg isle few if any in the rest of the store.”
Is it Superstore? Because I hear radio ads now exploiting the situation by labelling things as ‘Canadian deals’.
They’re touring free travel amongst the Provincial for wine but not oil Addicted idiots. Oh well, blanket in a bottle, I guess, when the power goes out
Let’s fix that, sorry. They’re touting free trade amongst the Provinces when it comes to wine, but not oil. Idiot addicts. Oh well, blanket in a bottle, I guess, when the power goes out.
“BOYCOTT LOBLAWS BECAUSE HIGH GROCERY PRICES!!!”
Also:
“DAMN TRUMP FOR EXPOSING THE CANADIAN DAIRY CARTELS!!!”
“DAMN TRUMP FOR EXPOSING THE CANADIAN DAIRY CARTELS!!!””
They will be the biggest losers in all of this. It’s about time.
Our own government has steadfastly refused to address the issue, as have most of our political (parties except one). The dairy cartel really knows how to spread their bribes around for maximum effectiveness.
The trade war sparked by U.S. President Donald Trump…
Trump didn’t start the trade war – Canada did. Trump told Canada to stop the fentanyl and fix its side of the border, and Canada said “No. We stand with China.”
You have to admire the integrity of the Canadian ruling class: once they’re bought, they stay bought.
Fentanyl was an excuse. There’s no evidence that massive amounts of fentanyl are streaming over the northern border.
The reason that Trump invoked fentanyl was likely to take advantage of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act of 1977, which lets him impose tariffs without the approval of congress so long as he can cite an emergency stemming from events outside of the US that needs addressing.
Define “no evidence” and “massive amounts”.
Define “Can’t think of a decent rebuttal, so I’ll just bog everything down in innane demands”.
Let me assist. “No evidence” = no evidence that I am willing to consider; “massive amounts” = enough to get me through Mass.
People kind Shoppers, wearing a made in China, “Canada not for Sale” ball cap, while snarfing up the grown in the US fruit and veges, with a face diaper on. Yeah, that’s going to crush the United States. LMAO. Priceless.
“ according to a recent Ipsos Canada study, the Buy Local movement is largely bolstered by older Canadians”
I would suggest mostly by women and “raging grannies” who are into any wild ass liberal/socialist whim
When laying Claymore mines, people need to be sure they take notice of the “Front toward enemy”. Ford found out with his electricity nonsense.
The only bricks i’m buying from the Cartel are Pounds of butter, the good Gay-Lee stuff is on sale at Wal-Mart (gasp) for $4.87!!
What is elbows up?Is it some Canadian saying?
Some pencil-neck heard that Gordie Howe used to say it when he played hockey.
Probably looks pretty funny through a prism rifle scope.
My grocery shopping algorithm does not have “country of origin” in it.
