Embrace Hollywood!

“Democrats need to embrace Hollywood because this is where they need to come to learn how to tell a story.“ – Michael Moore.

The remake’s big idea was to twist the idea of the word “fair.” See, in earlier versions of Snow White, an evil queen asks a magic mirror, “Who is the fairest of them all?” It’s always the queen, until one day the mirror responds that it’s actually her stepdaughter, the Princess Snow White. The question, “who is the fairest,” in other words, has always been a question about beauty. But in the remake, there’s something else going on. The movie goes to great lengths to demonstrate that the queen isn’t fair because she’s not a socialist. I am not kidding.

  1. When my kids were young, their cousins were consumed with Disney … meh, we went to the Park but that’s about it. One day, when visiting the Nieces I saw what was on Disney TV … I’m no prude, as I regularly reveal on these pages but … OMG! I couldn’t believe what I was seeing on their TV screen … little girls in sexually suggestive dress, gyrating and thrusting their hips … to ethnic music … with my Nieces following along dancing in the family room. Holy! Goodbye Annette Funicello and wholesome Mickey Mouse club fare. And this was in the late 80’s. I was, frankly, a bit shocked at the overt sexualization of little girls and boys … by Disney!

My kids and I didn’t really give Disney our time, ears, or eyes ever since. And if they want to eat the Evil witches poison apple themselves … have at it. Disney deserves a lonnnnng deep sleep. A real dirt nap level sleep.

    1. Annette Funicello was the “gyrating and thrusting their hips … to ethnic music …” of our childhoods. What is happening now under the Mickey Mouse ears was happening then too.

Of course they did. That’s the purpose of the movie, and of Disney itself. Has been for 20 years now, maybe more. Where do you think all those billions of US government dollars went?

Tell you what, go and try to get a story published that says -anything- other than “socialism good, yay socialism.” Good freaking luck. Anyone doing that since 2010 is self-publishing.

I can tell you right now, that will -never- be taken up by Hollywood or any dead-tree publisher.

    1. Oh. That’s what it looked like to me in all the YouTube advertisements I suffer before watching some kick ass psychedelic era band

  3. fair- beauty
    fair- local festival
    fair- dialect
    fair- a good deal, impartial
    fare- entry payment
fare- a range of food type

    English sucks!!!!

  4. Spoiler: In this version Prince Charming ditches Snow White and goes for her stepmother.

  5. It’s even more ridiculous when you consider how much better looking Gal Godot (the evil queen) is than Rachael Zegler (Snow Brown).

  6. Tried to watch “Anora” last night on Prime Video as it was recommended to me by a friend. Apparently it is the recipient of 5 Academy Awards. I watched 20 minutes of very explicit sex and even though I know the broad outlines of the story (the sex worker marries the son of a Russian Mob boss, the family try to take her down), I was so revolted that I stopped at 20 minutes.
I am 73 and wish everyone to have a “good sex life”. I do NOT need to know about it. What happened to movies like “Dark Victory” or “Gone with the Wind” – previous winners of Academy Awards?
