  1. C’mon man!

How are the Canadian politicians going to get their brown envelopes full of cash if they don’t allow the spice Chinese fentantyl to flow, and the jihadist to live in Canada?

    1. That article took a LOT of words to say … “Orangemanbad MmmmKay?” Because that is the ONLY explanation for Canada’s leadership’s strategy.

  2. So Ukraine is supposed to surrender to Russian genocide? Canada is supposed to surrender to Trump’s tariff lunacy? Has everyone surrendered their balls? Did you ask school bullies to punch you in the face or did you punch them squarely in the nose? Is eveyone going to be wearing dresses?

    1. If you had balls you’d know who was kicking you in them. It ain’t Trump. He’s not the WEF globalist, green agenda scammer, climate alarmist or a Laurentian elite planting his colonial maple flag on the west. You might also know Canada is not a very good “best” friend to the USA, but a much better friend to China and the money-laundering drug cartels.

As for Russia, would the situation be the same had NATO stayed where it promised (in 1989), knowing every advance on Russian territory was risking war?

      1. Yup. It’s not Trump with his hand in my wallet up to the elbow, confiscating firearms and jacking up carbon taxes. And it’s not Trump buying up all the real estate in my neck of the woods.

      2. Take that one step further. What was the purpose of NATO after the Berlin wall fell and the Soviet collapse.

        1. It has evolved into the armed faction of the Globalists. I mean, NATO was is Afghanistan (setting up an Islamist Republic and helping to write its constitution). That was stretching article 5 into crackpot territory, completely out of whack with its intent.

          1. In what way? Taliban hosted al-Qaeda who engaged in an act of war on a NATO member on 9/11 and on other NATO members (Spain and UK) in later years.

          2. True, after the 1979 Soviet invasion this is what happened. Seemed sensible then, but not so much now, much like everything in the world.

    2. Placing countervailing tariffs on the U.S. is like being punched in the face and then deciding you’re going to punch yourself in the face “just to show ’em.”

Countervailing tariffs only have a hope of working if your trade opponent is of approximately the same economic size as you and has approximately the same amount of dependencies on trade with you as you have with them. Neither of those are true in this case, so our present course of action will not work.

“Standing up to a bully” actually doesn’t work if the bully’s vastly larger and stronger than you — it just means you’re gonna get your ass very thoroughly kicked.

However, the present Liberal government’s quite happy to make this trade war continue, because it cranks up the mindless jingoism of “Team Canada” and gets lots more voters who were on the fence to pull the lever for the Liberals. Incentives matter, and the Libs have no incentive to change course.

Buckle up. It’s gonna get a lot worse before it gets better.

    3. You point is somewhat moot, Ukraine may do whatever it wishes. One way some of it survives, the other way it is annihilated. Canada and Europe can do nothing to change that. Canada has no military, no money, no influence and no respect. When you are a hectoring Karen, carping from the sidelines and running whenever the bill comes, people don’t respect you, and then ignore you.

    4. As someone who has nothing at stake in the Ukrainian dust up or the tariff tiff, I couldn’t care less about the outcome of either. I’ve been lucky in life.

    5. Ukraine is losing. They can either keep fighting, and lose even more land and more people and more infrastructure, or they can negotiate for a peace deal.
It’s very easy to scream and wail about surrendering to the Russians when you have no skin in the game. Perhaps go over and fight then, if this ceasefire doesn’t lead to a peace deal?

      1. That’s a common trait. Plenty of Ukraine keyboard warriors, all of them cowards.
None of them fly over to LARP with the Ruskies.
They are stupid cowards, no courage, but love to send other to die in their place.
Colon, surfer, Dumme, Allah, Dead Rat, all still too afraid to live up to their BRAVADO!
And all too dense to realize their empty bravado continues to send thousands to their deaths at the frontlines, everyday.
Both sides saying, Death! To the Last Ukrainian! Pretty sad when it’s your own side wishing the elimination of your own people, by idiocy and incompetence.
They share the same delusion as Hitler, dreaming of magical weapons to win the war!
The end result will be the same.

    6. This is the damage MSM propaganda causes.
Scar is a victim of the CCP owned government. It needs treatment.

    7. “Genocide” … I would have thought the posters on this site could actually define and understand the term. Evidently not.

    8. “So Ukraine is supposed to surrender to Russian genocide?”

      What ‘genocide’? Get a grip.

“Did you ask school bullies to punch you in the face or did you punch them squarely in the nose?”

Neither… I wasn’t dumb enough to keep poking them with a stick until they had no choice but to punch me in the face. Were you?

  3. Doing everything in your power to stop a trade war by inciting one is like a progressive calling themself a conservative.

  4. All of you ‘wunder kids’out there spouting off about Trump, trade wars, genocide in Gaza, Putin is an ogre, Musk is evil, etc., etc., etc.! Why don’t you give yourselves a moment and educate yourselves before you jump on the bandwagon propaganda that the socialist leaders want you on.

Since the Second World War, first under the Marshall plan and later under the USAID program America has been paying the freight for most of the free world. Every President since Eisenhower have played along with this program because they have all been politicians and have lined their own pockets with American benevolence. Then Trump came along and recognized that every country in Europe has a better health care program than America has. The reason is that America has been footing the bill for all of their defence programs since WWII. American politicians in the past have also been benevolent in not applying fair trade tariffs to most of the countries that have benefited from American defence policies. As Trump has noted why aren’t American products as available in Europe as European products are in America? Could it possibly be because Europe has American goods taxed/tariffed when they come into Europe?

As for Canada and the tariff war. When your strongest trading partner has a devalued dollar there is an unequal market. The last time the Canadian dollar was on par with the American dollar was in the middle of the Harper government’s term of office, 2010. If the Canadian dollar was on par with the US dollar and we were mining, refining and producing our own natural resources and products there would be no need to be engaged in a trade war. The problem is that under the Liberals we have successfully cut our own throats over the last ten years. We import steel and aluminium from China and pass the product off as Canadian, we have allowed China to buy great swaths of real estate, and we have allowed them to interfere in our elections. Now we are supposedly outraged when Trump tells us to start pulling our own weight.

We have allowed the Trudeau regime, father and son, to eviscerate the body politic of Canada and we now have a new PM who will stuff and mount the carcass for display at the WEF.

    1. China is the elephant in the room that nobody wants to mention.

Trump is kicking the #Liberals in the #whatsit because of -China-. We are in a [fake] trade war with the USA because of -China-. We can’t afford real estate in Canada because of -China-. You don’t have good job prospects going forward because all of our jobs either went to -China- or we’re cutting back on oil/gas/lumber/coal/metals BECAUSE OF CHINA. Because -they- want them.

But China is going bust lately, and that’s why we’re going bust too. Circulation of money to be laundered is dropping.

      1. You stole my point. But since you explained it so nicely, I’m happy to just say ditto, or something. And to add that … just as Europe has outsourced their NATO military funding to the USA so they can be seen as “peaceful”… Germany is outsourcing their industry to the ChiComs … so they can be seen as “green”.

        Yeah, that charade is OVER

    2. Indeed. The Liberal War on resource development over the last 10 years, has yielded results.
      The Canadian Peso.
      Low GDP.
      Declining international investment.
It wasn’t negligence, it was the plan. The WEF plan. Marx is here to finish off what Blackie started. Any talk of pipelines, mining, resource development by Liberals is BS nonsense. They are insincere, but I digress.
Ditto goes for BC Thin Man. A disingenous socialist bent on financial destruction. Empty promises. Treat voters like midnight Romeo’s treat their gals.
“Of course I will love you in the morning dear”

      1. Just the Liberals?
This may have gone unnoticed, but I have mentioned U1 more than once, and that only because it directly affects my country.
But I’ll mention a new term now: FIPA. It would probably be wise for Canadians to look into their own history. I just gave you a term to deep dive into: FIPA.
And who set it up? It wasn’t Trudeau; it wasn’t the Liberals.
Oh Canada…you were sold out far longer ago than you recognize…and you’ve been a very bad “ally” to your “best friend and trading partner” for far longer too.
Everyone talks about the markets on tv, but this isn’t about the money; it’s about something else — the money is just window dressing.

  5. Is Canada doing enough?

I believe that’s what started this.

We are not doing enough to secure our border, our own government says we’re post national.
We are not doing what’s needed to maintain our control over Arctic territory we claim is ours to control, something the US has noticed for some time but was too polite to make an issue out of it ….. till now.
We are not doing enough to stop the fentanyl, for that matter our federal government has been facilitating its use through its policy of safe supply, and then when Trump tells them to do something about it they invoked the lame ass excuse of only being less than one percent of the problem.

But he’s the one being irrational.

  6. “Trump was always cosy with China”? What about mumbles Biden who bent over backwards for China and was plagued with worse spying scandals?

      1. Well, somebody running Biden’s Autopen was on the CCP payroll.

Biden was just drooling into his puddin’ cups.

    1. The Koreans say they can deliver Canada a sub to spec within 3 years.
It’ll take 3 years to get the procurement thru the Quebec & Irwing infested defense administration.
      LMAO

  7. Are the Globalists who rule over “Canada” doing enough to stop the trade war with China ?
Oh yeah, I forgot… that “trade war” doesnt matter.
In Canada… anti American is good… anti CCP bad.

    Canda is a corrupt joke.

  8. The very LAST thing this liberal government wants is to end the trade war. Without a crisis they would have to call an election, which they would lose. Trump Hate is their best hope for survival.

  9. I don’t fully buy either side’s story on tariffs.

They’re framed as economic policy, but I think Trump’s administration is more focused on keeping China out of Canada and Mexico.

To make this easier for the public to digest, they frame it around drugs and illegal immigration; both widely seen as negatives.

Let’s assume the crisis is as bad as they say; thousands of pounds of drugs, hundreds of illegal crossings daily through weak entry points.

Why would Canada remain so very silent?

    I’m left to assume:

Canada doesn’t see it as an immediate international threat.

It’s treading carefully, avoiding diplomatic or economic fallout with China by staying quiet on how deep its influence runs; whether through trade, investments, or politics.

  10. Imagine if your Home Owner’s Association told you that you have to either paint your house or they’ll burn it down.

And you choose to not paint it.

    1. “Imagine if your Home Owner’s Association told you that you have to either paint your house or they’ll burn it down.

And you choose to not paint it.”

      Love it! Nicely put.

  11. We’re all being screwed over by governments claiming to help us and do things to make life better. It’s not going to happen.

Case in point, Beer makers in Canada will have to deal with the fact that made in Canada aluminum is shipped to the US for beer can makers The beer can makers have to pay a tax to the us government for the privilege of using aluminum from Canada. The beer cans then get shipped back to Canada where the can buyers have to pay a tax to the Canadian government for buying cans. You and me then go to the beer store where we have to pay more for our beer to cover the costs of taxes paid to both the Canadian and American governments. Both governments get richer, we get poorer. They’re robbing us blind and they’ve convinced us that its in our own best interest.

  12. Might be near impossible to negotiate with Trump at this point. He’s been erratic and incoherent, and keeps yammering on about how Canada should join the US, which is not on the table.

    1. I’m post national. I don’t care which politician is busy robbing me. They’re all crooked. Government is all one big scam where powerful people rob the little people and try and convince them that it’s all in their best interest. It’s been like this since the beginning of time, and all I want from them is to be left alone.

    2. Negotiate? They hate what Trump’s trying to do. And are dishonest enough to run the country into the ground to win an election .
Trudeau is a globalist and so is Carney except he’s even worse. If you can get past your dislike of Trump listen to this podcast . It makes sense , it’s not good news but explains what Trump’s trying to do and it’s a huge gamble you can say what you like but Trump’s got balls and if we had somebody with some kahonas on this side things would be getting done..

    3. LOL, listening to the voices in your head again? Take your meds. Alberta should leave Canada, and take whoever wants to come. Typical lefty that you think you can just say things and it means they’re true, of course you’re against people voting for a government or country they support. Keep on bowing and grovelling to a foreign king and the unelected globalist PM you worship, and stop thinking you get to decide what’s “on the table”.

  13. Our bone marrow anti Americanism.. Combined with TDS election jingoism.. A toxic economic stew, from the people who wanted to wear a mask and be locked down.. Apparently, all the cool kids died and were replaced with jugheads..

Its not about him. Its about us. We would do well to remember that..

  14. Doing enough? Like, now? You have to be kidding!

Canada has been on the path of self-destruction for decades. But the point of no return came when ALL Parties and ALL MPs and ALL provincial legislatures and ALL MLAs/MPPs strangled our freedoms and torched the remnants of economic viability during the CCP virus scamdemic.

We are already embalmed. Our murderers give thanks to Trump for showing up when he did. The Cause of Death certificates needed a lie.

BTW. A good read from Winnipeg: https://www.msn.com/en-ca/money/topstories/klein-canada-is-digging-its-own-grave-total-economic-ruin/ar-AA1APKLy

  15. “We will fight the US Evil Empire and the Bad Orange Man to the last Canadian!”

…said pretty much every politician in Canada.

  16. You are over complicating things. Last year before the US election I read an article that stated that a Trump victory is the only thing that could save Trudeau. Well he got his wish and a deliberate campaign started in November to campaign against Trump. Kamala should have won, Pierre is Trump etc, etc. And then they got lucky over the tariff and 51st state things. Thanks Trump STFU. But face it, Libs couldn’t run on their accomplishments or their solid fiscal policy, or their social improvements, or just pick anything, but they could run on saving Canada from the evil Trump. Remember Trudeau tried to do the same thing during Covid – Captain Canada was saving Canada from the vile virus so it might work again. Forget woke, forget corruption, forget the environment this is just a plan to hold onto power. And the Canadian public is gullible enough to fall for it unless the CPC can run a fantastic campaign.
And Carney is more dangerous than Trudeau because he is smarter and possibly less principled.
