What he actually says he is going to do is to fold Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s fuel charge (a.k.a. the “consumer carbon tax” on 22 forms of fossil fuel energy, including gasoline and natural gas) into an “improved and tightened” existing cap-and-trade regime covering large industrial emitters, known as the output-based pricing system (OBPS).
Cap and trade is a carbon tax by another name, although less visible to the public.

So, is this cap and trade cash grab scheme in addition to his “Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism”? Which would tax every item imported into Canada from any Country that does not subscribe to the Globalist Zero Carbon agenda, in order stop “carbon leakage” from another Country. At a recent town hall in Kelowna, B.C. Carney stated he would use any measure to achieve his agenda, including the use of the Emergency Act.
Now we all know it’s smoke and mirrors – Carney is a climate change activist.
But it was still fun to see Carney announce that he was going to dump Justin’s signature policy – to his face.
As an aside, what was Carney’s constitutional authority to do that?
When he hides the carbon tax as he says he will do the average liberal voter will display a sigh of relief since they won’t see the carbon tax spelled out on their bills. That my friends is the intelligence level of the majority of liberals

Heads of big global banks are often like this. Mark Carney’s behaviour is no different than the absurd hijinks of Nicholas Stern in his production of his report on the economic impact of global warming. They all feel free to distort the arithmetic to arrive at their desired conclusions.

We have to hope that Ontario and Quebec don’t do what comes naturally and vote for Carney and their beloved Liberals.
I don’t think Canadians are as pissed off as the Americans were last November, so I can see the LPC at least holding the CPC to a minority. Maybe a few months with Carney as PM will open their eyes, maybe.
If in an election, the LPC holds the Conservatives to a minority, the Libs will stay in power. They’ll do a deal with the NDP and or Bloc.
There won’t be an NDP. Liberal gains, if any, will be at the expense of their fellow socialist. Canada has three socialist parties: Libs, Dips, Greens. That’s two too many.

Here is the best long term solution to lower Canada’s carbon emissions. Alberta and Saskatchewan leave, and this will reduce emissions drastically in very short time period.

Cap-and-trade was a scheme cooked up by Milton Friedman, easily one of the most overrated economists of the 20th century.
Too much pollution? No problem—set a limit on the amount of pollution firms can produce and the free market will equate the demand for “emissions permits” with the supply, making more polluting industries less profitable.
Of course, in the real world, what any entrepreneur will do in such circumstances is find a way to avoid paying for emissions permits. That wouldn’t be the only motivation he’d have for closing the plant and outsourcing production to Red China, but the cost of acquiring emissions permits would make the decision to do so easier.
None of the “market-based” schemes to reduce pollution on a global scale have ever succeeded anything of the kind. Cap-and-trade, like the carbon tax, only reduces pollution in any country where it’s tried by destroying the country’s manufacturing industries.
That country’s loss is the gain of countries like Red China, where no serious attempt is made to limit pollution at all. The approach of the CCP to the very real environmental destruction caused by socialism with Chinese characteristics is to insist that said destruction is a symptom of Western imperialist capitalism and to deny China’s role in any of it, no matter how obvious a lie that is.
Determining whether that’s a bug or a feature I’ll leave as an exercise to the reader.

Canada has 5 central Kanadian socialist parties. Libs, Dips, Greens, Cons and the Bloc.
ALL are in favour of centralized power…making them all “socialist”.
The whole idea of a carbon tax is for people to see how much they pay, and for them to see it keep increasing over and over, thus discouraging them from using fossil fuels in favor of alternatives.
What then, is the intent of Carney’s new carbon tax that the voters don’t see? Fill government coffers, nothing more.
