Personally I think publicly published polls are a joke. What might be more interesting are the private polls conducted for political parties.

If the polls stay high, it’s quite possible (probable?) that Carney will call an election before Parliament resumes.

a) he gets the traditional new leader bump and the bump from Trudeau is gone
b) he avoids the unelected PM moniker, which would constantly be thrown in his face if he tried to stay in power until Oct.
c) he thinks he can translate anti Trump sentiment into votes.
d) “it’s the economy stupid”. The Canadian economy is likely to get worse not better. Trump’s tariffs, Carney’s retaliatory tariffs, and a 19% increase in the Carbon tax on April 1, 2025 will have a bigger adverse effect by Oct 2025 than they will have in a late April or early May election.
e) based on current polling Carney may believe he can harvest NDP votes.

Old whores just don’t quit cold turkey and leave the seedy underworld the live in. Jagmeathead will be ready to resume faithfully servicing the Libranos.

I have watched certain people of weak minds and weak spirits … mostly in professional sports, or the college coaching ranks … utterly collapse and turn from champion and winner to utter loser … AFTER … they receive their BIG CONTRACT payday. Hopefully, Jackmeet will similarly go-away after his big payday.
