  1. Given a lot of money is going to bonuses to executives and board members it seems to me this is mostly grift and corruption.

    1. It is payola for Quebec CBC employees … pure vote buying Liebral style.
Shovel more money to Quebec over and over again.

Justin’s mom, Mad Maggie Trudeau will likely get her own program on CBC discussing mental illness & substance abuse!!

  2. Because doubling down on the same useless thing and expecting different results is the Liberal way of doing business.

  3. It’s not much of a shock that a Liberal would advocate for a doubling of the budget for their in house communications department that masquerades as a national news and entertainment media. Most Canadians don’t watch or listen to the CBC. As a national radio and television source, the CBC was redundant 40 years ago after cable and satellite technology gave the entire country access that previously was the sole rationale for the CBC. Let the leftists who want another echo chamber pay for it directly after a future Conservative government mercifully cuts it loose from the resentful taxpayer.

    1. Yes. Get rid of the ‘news’ division. That would save billions. We didn’t need a state broadcaster.
Everything remaining needs to be neutral in every way, shape and form. Information items only with no opinion stories allowed.

  4. Yeah, get rid of the CBC. Much harder to pull the wool over people’s eyes with them around, right?

    1. That’s right. The CBC has been vital in exposing scandals. Problem is, they’re mostly orange juice. Real scandals get defended on the CBC, when they can’t be concealed.

  5. The article claims that the subsidy is roughly 33 bucks per person.

That’s misleading. Since only 3% of Canadians watch CBC, the subsidy is around $1100 per viewer.

What guarantee does CBC offer to increase viewership with increased funding? Is there a ‘magic bullet’ available for another million bucks?

    What is it?

    1. Before Trudeau implemented automatic tax increases, $33 would buy a case of beer. Much more valuable than CBC

    2. I personally know some of those 3% and I can confirm they are completely brainwashed. one even has a sign on the back door,”We love CBC”

  6. Classic government fix – if it’s not working, double the funding. Insanity. Stop the funding, sell the assets.

    1. Funny, that’s not what Pepe has said. When he says DEFUND, that can mean anything from cut $1,000, a million dollars, or whatever.
It doesn’t mean TERMINATE. He’s using weasel words. I know that is not what any of us want to hear, but it’s true. He’s playing FAST & LOOSE with his phrasing.
So don’t be too disappointed when he allows The National to continue its presence on your dial, spewing its leftist propaganda daily.
Mark my words, he’s a politician and his lips are moving. What you hear is what you want to hear, not what he is telling himself.
Think the Screw Job of Bret Hart. Because “national institution” or some such garbage.
Conservatives politicians always snatch defeat from the jaws of victory!

      1. Drop the news division and that basically eliminates the CBC. Kind of like PBS in the US. Make them ask for donations. Since most Canadians don’t watch it will die a quick death.

  7. Liquidate the liberal propaganda ministry. Repurpose buildings for the homeless. Nobody watches CBC anymore.

  8. This fits nicely into Carney’s nonsensical idea for splitting the budget so that you can balance the “operational” side while the spending spree shifts to the “investment” side, which presumably will be tweaked to include the CBC and high speed rail and whatever.

  9. There’s a pattern right now.
LIEberals making vast promises of unaffordable pet projects.
    Their beloved propaganda arm.
    A bullet train to nowhere.
What next? Just think of wild projects speculated for years but never getting off the ground because it’s too expensive and the business case is poor.
Here on the Island, that’s the tragic story of the E&N railway. Inactive since 2009. The lefties want everything and anything here in Greentardland. Commuter rail. Light Rail. Rebuild from Nanaimo south to Vic. Of course, these pipe dreams never come with a price tag. Cost doesn’t matter to Commies. The entire line, from spikes, ties, trestles to rolling stick needs full replacement. Think Billions and Billions. Fantasy. Vanity Project.
The LIEberals are in desperation damage control, we ain’t seen nothing yet, they are about to promise a spending spree of unprecedented proportions. Will the sheeple be conned? Is the pope Catholic? Did Blackie shag a 14 year old at PGA?

    1. Dan, you’re turning cynical in your old age. Keep it up. And I agree completely with you on Clubbe Ottawa, where the object is to fool enough of the people to elect the guy whose tie matches mine.
The USA might be experiencing a mini-revolution, but we don’t do that here in Canader.

    2. Amazing, isn’t it? Liebs shoveling cash out the door in anticipation of an election? $4B just to STUDY and PLAN for high-speed rail between Quebec City and Toronto? And who do you suppose is on that consortium? None other than the formerly-named SNC-Lavalin. That corridor serves 200 or so ridings, enough to form a majority government, but no… that’s not a bribe. Really? Believe us!
And the Liebs feel that they haven’t spent enough money to buy out the media, so here’s a couple of billion more for the Ceeb. Pretty sure there are no kick-backs involved, no-siree-bob, none at all (/s)
And they’re doing this while parliament is prorogued so that there can be no debate in the HoC.
This is the lieberal scorched-earth policy in action. They’re going to do what Biden tried to do before he left office, which is to shovel as much cash into the money pit as possible before they give up power, wrecking the economy beyond repair so that PP really would have a mess on his hand, and the Liebs can blame him for the economic mess that THEY created!
I can’t wait for an Alberta referendum on independence.

  10. We see this state of pure bull shit because the progressive conservative pussy Shit Head didn’t shut it down like he promised. Now we have another progressive conservative promising to sort of shut it down. does any one actually believe PP??

  11. An investment in “National Security”? I believe they spelled “Leftist Job Security” wrong? Spelled “Brainwashing” wrong

  12. “CBC television is watched by 3.9% of Canadians and only .8% watch CBC News. Again, half of all media dollars, half. Half is spent engaging less than 4% of Canadians.”

    Elizabeth Nickson

  13. L- The security being protected is that of organized crime syndicates: Liberal/NDP political
parties and their United Front(C.C.P.) allies. The 10,000 opioid drug deaths per year is a metric
    of their subversion of Canada. “Unrestricted Warfare” is designed to conquer through subversion. Having the CBC operating as the unofficial propaganda arm of the Liberal Party;
by not having to beg for private sector ad dollars, upgrades them to official agents.

If the Liberals then issue CBC staff with uniforms, too. Their budget will be counted as part Canada’s NATO budget!

Pretty slick, as clever as any Mob accountant cooking the books.

  14. “Investment in national security” translates to Liberal advertising. That group of dingbats can’t be gone soon enough.

  15. Quebekki loves radio canada. The libranos are under water there to the PQ so it’s natural that they will try and buy votes. They are doing it everywhere right now.

PP won’t wipe them out. Radio Canada is safe in quebek. Hopefully he puts them in their place.

  16. Doesn’t bode well when the ruling junta feels the need to ransack the country before they hand over power..

    I’m not kidding..

    1. The problem is that with the Spawn there’s no real difference between scorched earth spending and his normal fiscal incontinence. It’s all pissed away in expensive vote buying. The high speed rail boondoggle is a gift to his favorite engineering firm from Quebec. Look to see him with a corporate board appointment from his friends in his post political career.
