Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

CA, OR and WA for AB-SK and e BC, YT?
Works 4 me.
When can we schedule the referendum?
I’m a rural Ontarian- I hope Alberta sticks it to the progs.
BC? The US has enough drug dens already.
Alberta could easily be a country on its won. The population is similar to that of Norway, Finland and Denmark and the GDP per capita of Alberta is considerably higher than that of Finland and Denmark and at par with that of Norway. And if you were to add in Saskatchewan and a large part of B.C., it would be a pretty powerful little nation on its own….especially because it wouldn’t be dragged down by the millstone called Ottawa.
Works for me.
That would double the Canadian economy, and the population.
Isn’t there somebody we could give Quebec to, though?
Coobah
Queerbeck’s patron saint , drooping eyebrows, is from there.
Another quality come-back worthy of MENSA from our friendly neighborhood troll.
(yes, that was sarcasm. I couldn’t help myself.)
Then you can pay for all their welfare.
France!
Haiti
Within months, California would be running all of Canada.
As it stands, it damn near runs all of the ‘States.
No, not at all. That’s an illusion. And nobody outside of CA ever thinks of the place, unless they have relatives there. (Rather like Americans’ relation to Canada. )
Wait till we cut off their water.
And how do we do that?
Canuckistan can have California! If Alberta joins the union, I don’t really care what happens to Canada. let them all drown in their red ink.
I’ll take the deal.
Give me Diagolon!
Yeah. Trawna Star. He’d be happy with that alright.
Western Canada needs to realize the rest of Canada would be happy to be rid of us.
Instead we waste our time working at fixing Canada.
Not true. You have more friends than you realize.
Thanks. One of the things I learned from the Freedom Protest is that there are Canadians from across the country who value Canada and want greater freedom for all its citizens.
Absolutely correct WalterF, to wit:
130,000 people for 1 MP (Wetaskiwin iirc)
vs
30,000 people for 1 MP in one of the east coast fishing theme parks
Stacked Supreme court
Guaranteed overrepresentation @25% of seats pour la belle provence
No balance by region in a 2d chamber
No property rights
etc, etc.
End the slavery
Pull the pin
That’s actually a pretty good arrangement, although I would like to see Canada throw in SK to sweeten the deal.
Not everyone
Although it would flatter the sort of person who reads the Toronto Star to believe that California would ever want to become part of Canada (it doesn’t)
A ridiculous little cartoon drawn by a ridiculous little man to pander to the prejudices of ridiculous inconsequential little people
Fkkking deplorables again, eh?
Hmm, lets review. 1) Hollywood has-beens could become Canadians without the trouble of moving. 2) The Left Coast would enjoy climate change regulations beyond Sacramento’s dreams. 3) Another plus is Canada gets a new PM candidate in Newsom with Pelosi, Kamala and Schiff thrown in.
It’s something to think about.
“A ridiculous little cartoon drawn by a ridiculous little man to pander to the prejudices of ridiculous inconsequential little people.”
So true. Our little city’s rags (one is Post Media) will sometimes have Theo’s cartoons. He’s not very clever and he certainly isn’t funny. For weeks now, our little weeklies are all TDS. I don’t even read them anymore; straight into the blue box.
He even remembered to make Canada commie pink. Nice.
Trump should rescind his offer to Canada and offer it only to Alberta and Saskatchewan. The rest of Canada would crumble shortly. They could join as a territory of the USA without state rights of course. This keeps USA conservative and rich and mutes the power of the communist territory of Canada. To sweeten the pot he could offer everyone that votes to separate $20,000. This would entice a lot of the parasites to vote to separate as well.
Maybe he’s waiting for Carney to win the election to capitalize on western anger if it happens.
Just spitballin.
“He even remembered to make Canada commie pink.”
Archie Bunker did refer to communists as “pinkos.”
Sometimes Archie Bunker is spot on!
He draws that like it’s a bad thing…
As an Albertan my only disappointment is that it takes until 2026 to actually happen.
Canadians perhaps aren’t aware of it, but the province of Ontario is inundating US television with commercials singing the praises of their relationship with the US.
I would appreciate hearing from you, on the significance of this, as I don’t understand the motivation.
Follow the money. Somebody’s brother /cousin/nephew is a film maker. If DOGE is any indication, it cost 100 million to make and 90 is missing.
Actually it’s very well done but I don’t know what it’s supposed to accomplish (other than the money). The election was in November and Trump won.
He had to label it “Alberta” because TorStar readers are geographic illiterates. Otherwise, looks like a sweetheart deal to me, where do I sign up?
A better concept would be Alberta as a stand alone country…..of course adding Saskatchewan and a large part of B.C. would make it even stronger.
Kenji hardest hit.
There’s still time to make your escape. If you can find a U-Haul…
I’m gonna rent my UHaul in NV
Kenji, you’ll need a jacket and a toque.
…and I’ll need some sunscreen!
How many jackets? … and I’ve never looked good in hats
I am 70 yrs old and have been wishing for this for 50 years ….. they have destroyed my Alberta!!!
We’ll get billions and billions of European tax money and armament and we will defend the great white North strong and free, just like Ukraine did ….uh, wait, no one of our allies will come help?…we will put tariffs on French wine, British crumpets, Italian cheese and German sausage, that”ll teach them.
/ sarc off
Would Canada also consider swapping B.C. for Victoria in Australia?! I have friends in both places; they’ll thank me one day when they have to move to better places as a result…
Where is that Diagolon Sketch?
We need to promote that meme good and hard right now.
For Jeremy’s joke triggered something inside the Ottawa Circle.
Someone took it way too seriously.
Why?
Heh who cares.
If it makes the Ottawa Idiots pee themselves and clutch their pearls harder..I say do it.
Proposing to join Montana with Alaska ,works on so many levels.
As every really good joke has much truth inside it.
And who can say that we are joking?
FREE SASKABERTA!!!!!!!
DIAGALON FOREVER!!!!!
I agree only if saskatchewan goes as well
Can anyone make the case for Canada?
I assume there exist good arguments for the continued existence of Confederated Canada.
I have difficulty imagining even one..which I ascribe to limited imagination on my part.
My conclusion is Western Separation is unavoidable and that we should be planning for it .
But no one else has posted such an argument,at least not in the forums I frequent.
So did I miss it?
Is there a solid argument for continuing “Confederation”?
All I see are years of lies.
Complete lack of common values.
No common sense.
And actions accepted that have destroyed the promise this nation once held.
Voters so ignorant that they repeatedly reward lying thieves, with re election.
Voters who love to steal from the productive to reward the lazy and useless.
We did try Reform.
And the results were entirely predictable.
Kleptocracy cannot be reformed by civil actions.
So??
What is the case for Canada?
I was going to congratulate the cartoonist on finally drawing something likeable, but he blocked me on X.
