    1. *that Nobel Peace Prize is gonna look swell beside the Churchill bust in the Oval Office…

Irony free already; picking up your new US habits fast.

We should get our Churchill bust back and send Trump Chamberlain’s “Peace in Our Time” paper. He can staple it to his Nobel prize.

  1. Allan S…UnMe…Colonista and Andy Coyne hardest hit. A shame really – no more senseless killing…BORING!!! Oh well, maybe we can gin up a war somewhere else and snuff out a generation of that country’s youth while fire hosing oodles of Western cash.
If you own Raytheon, Boeing and other “MOD” (Merchants of Death) stock it might be a good time to sell.

        1. There’s a big deal about recent very serious atrocities against Russian civilians in the Kursk region recently. Russia has asked the UN to investigate and may put Zelenky on their terrorist list. Apparently they have the tapes.

If so it’ll be run rabbit run…..wonder if bobble head Frau Freeland will buy plane tickets to Brazil?

          1. Apparently they have the tapes.

Lol, the “tapes” would have been all over the frickin internet, ffs.
Maybe Tucker Carlson is keeping them warm in his underpants.

Russia has been dropping more gliding bombs on the Kursk region than on the whole of the rest of the Ukrainian front line the past month. That’s what they’re covering with this bullsh!t. Everything Russia touches is flattened and wiped out. Yet somehow, Donetsk City is virtually intact despite all that supposed Ukrainian Nazi “shelling” since 2014.

          2. “There’s a big deal about recent very serious atrocities against Russian civilians in the Kursk region recently.”

LOL like all those genocided russians in Donbas? All those for whom, russia still haven;t been able to produce a single mass grave?

It is russians that have been conducting genocide against Ukrainians since the war started. And for that evidence is aplenty.

    1. The warmongers are the ones that think Putins escalation was justified. They’re usually the same idiots that believed Iraq had undeclared WMD.

          1. Freddie again not cheering for death of Ukrainian civilians while russia attack purely civilian targets in their genocidal campaign.

        1. While Ukraine has some propaganda, it’s more feel good propaganda centering around the war. Russias propaganda on the other hand:

          – bioweapons labs
          – 8 year genocide
          – murder pigeons
          – battle mosquitos
          – Ukrainian supersoldiers
          – NATO promised not to expand east
          – Ukraine shouldn’t exist

So yes, keep going on about the Ghost of Kyiv

          1. NATO did in fact promise not to expand East. Just because it is not a formal treaty, doesn’t mean a deal wasn’t made. If I were Russia I’d simply declare the reunification of Germany has been rescinded, and WW2 is on again.

But even if it was a written treaty, since when has the West ever abided by any written agreement?

          2. Give the the last treaty russia did not break was probably the one signed by Ribbentrop and Molotov…

      1. Nothing is stopping you from LARPing, allah. Go ahead, buy a one-way ticket to Kiev and fight off the hordes.

Please go, 72 virgins are waiting for you!

      2. “The warmongers are the ones that think Putins escalation was justified. ”

No, the warmongers are the ones who wanted the war to continue forever, Simpleton ™.

        1. Maybe weak, cowardly, lily livered Frenchmen like you are ready to give up to invaders at the drop off a hat, but unlike you, Ukrainians are made of tough stuff. If they want to keep the fight going, it’s the duty of civilized nations to support them.

          1. “Maybe weak, cowardly, lily livered Frenchmen”

Sorry, not a lot of Frenchmen in BC. We don’t cater to them like you do out there…

          2. Yes, that is what he said, that is how threads work, you’re not the sharpest tool in the shed, are you?

    2. But, but, but … Burton! Putin is a homophobe! He’s on the wrong side of LGBTQueer HISTORY of the last 4-years in America and the super-gay Western nations! How can there EVER be peace, when young “transitioning” grade school children live in fear of people like Putin!?

… and you think I write satire? Hardly. This is exactly what every hardcore Democrat believes. That you “can’t negotiate with homophobes”. Why do you think NO ONE in the Biden Admin. EVER spoke with Putin?

Oh … and the Ukraine War was a SUPERB money laundering opportunity for the Dem’s. and RINO’s … so a certain political demographic doesn’t want THAT gravy train to stop.

    1. It’s looks like the Soviet Union officially dissolved in 1991 … dear Europe and NATO … do try to keep up with the arc of history.

      1. What are you taking about? Didn’t all of Europe just import millions of military age men from Africa and the Middle East? You mean all those military age men on Euro-welfare weren’t imported for the purpose of fighting that homophobe Putin? Huh? Curious as to what they’re all doing in Europe then … ?

  2. No more NATO means more winning for US taxpayers. Europeans eager to continue the Russia-Ukraine War can have at it on their own dime.

  3. “BREAKING: President Trump confirms that he’s just had a phone call with President Putin of Russia. The two countries will immediately begin negotiations to end the war in Ukraine. ”

As predicted, years ago, by everyone with a working brain. It could NEVER have ended any other way, and it was always pure fantasy to believe otherwise. We told you that, over and over again, and we sometimes even took the time to patiently explain WHY it could never end any other way. Intelligent people understood this.

(except, obviously, for those who had a vested financial or political interest in keeping it going indefinitely)

The only major question now is what will happen to Zelensky.

    1. The only major question now is what will happen to Zelensky.

That’s actually pretty minor. What happens to Europe in a few years is much more worrying.
      (not to you, obvs)

      1. “– The only major question now is what will happen to Zelensky.

        That’s actually pretty minor.”

Not to the families of all those killed *for nothing*, it’s not. It’s actually pretty important.

” What happens to Europe in a few years is much more worrying.
        (not to you, obvs)”

What exactly do you suppose will happen to Europe, now that NATO has been taught an important lesson about what can happen if you provoke the Russians too many times? You do remember how (and when) this whole thing started, right?

        1. Europe, by its own divisions and Russian influence, will split into pro and anti Russian factions. There will be war. More countries will have got nukes, which will make the war extra interesting.

Your expressions of concern for the families of those killed will continue to appear hollow, but that doesn’t matter because your views are as irrelevant as mine. We’ll be worrying about our own families.

          1. “Europe, by its own divisions and Russian influence, will split into pro and anti Russian factions. There will be war. More countries will have got nukes, which will make the war extra interesting.”

I doubt that most of the 30 NATO nations and 17 non-NATO nations can afford to wage any wars.

“Your expressions of concern for the families of those killed will continue to appear hollow,”

            I’m anti-war. You?

” but that doesn’t matter because your views are as irrelevant as mine. We’ll be worrying about our own families.”

            That much is true.

          2. I’m pro-peace, which means crushing Russian defeat. ‘Anti-war’ is just another word for ‘anti-western’.

“Not to the families of all those killed *for nothing*, it’s not. It’s actually pretty important.”

Nobody died for nothing. Fighting for or against Russian tyranny and Ukrainian independence is as far from nothing as it gets.

          3. “‘Anti-war’ is just another word for ‘anti-western’.”

Bingo!. You can be surprisingly astute at times.

          4. I’m anti-war. You?

Nope. Simplistic tropes like “pro-war” and “anti-war” are for children. If you’d fight to defend your family or your country then you’re not anti-war.

        2. “…that NATO has been taught an important lesson about what can happen if you provoke the Russians too many times?”

Apart for nobody provoking russia (which is an obvious nonsense) what lesson would that be?

That all of Pootin’s demands from winter 2021-22 can be safely ignored and the opposite can be done?

That russia can’t defeat a nation third its size with mostly obsolete equipment when that one is using only a tiny fraction of NATO potential?

That NATO can expand along russia’s border and there isn’t anything that russia can do about it? Ask Finland if you’re confused?

That russia needs tech from Iran and NK and troops from NK to fight its loosing war and has to pay for those with tech they wanted to share before?

That russia can’t defend its interests in Africa? Lost Syria and even Libyan warlords aren’t interested (in case it escaped your attention russia tried to make friends with Libyan warlords to use Libya as its launchpad for Africa, was told to FOAD and promptly did that just that)?

    2. “As predicted”

Ugh, yeah let’s recapture the last time you made a prediction that:
      https://www.smalldeadanimals.com/2024/12/30/december-30-2024-reader-tips/#comment-1968828
“The ceasefire will begin in January, negotiations will commence in late January or early February.”

      “years ago, ”

Yes you predicted that the war will eventually end. You have been off regarding the date since the third day of the three day military operation but who is counting? The important thing is that you were right and the war will eventually end. As if it actually wasn’t obvious that no war will go forever.

“by everyone with a working brain”

      Which clearly exclusives you.

“even took the time to patiently explain WHY it could never end any other way”

Except that you have no idea how it will end. But hey keep predicting. Nothing has been decided.

    1. Easy there. Nothing has been decided or agreed upon. It was a courtesy call without any agreement or commitment. Note that weapons shipments to Ukraine hasn’t from US didn;t stop and if anything seem to have been increasing lately.

      1. It wasn’t actually Trump’s gladhanding of Putin that concerned me, it was Hegseth’s contemporaneous comments about European security that collided with my bad headache. The man is a political newbie so maybe I shouldn ‘t have paid as much attention. But Europe certainly has and I am not alone in my concerns about Donald Chamberlain.

My brain tells me nobody could be so dumb as to pull defeat from the jaws of victory and commit the biggest geopolitical unforced error since Adolf declared war on the USA . . .

  4. Does Ukraine get a vote in this? Does the rest of NATO, many members of which — like Poland — have supported Ukraine with armaments?

        1. I’m no great historian either but America invaded Russia through Ukraine. Trump is just batting clean-up and getting all the war-mongers back to the sidelines.

          1. Yeah, you keep pumpin’ bizarre theories that don’t withstand even a modicum of scrutiny.

Why people would defend the actions of a totalitarian imperialist arsehole I have never understand. But they do.

          2. The US never invaded Russia, but maybe it should have.

Trump is just negotiating Doha 2: extra disastrous-loo, and Europe had better sabotage this crap.

          3. “I’m no great historian either but America invaded Russia through Ukraine.”

Me neither, but I can read. Some very smart people who *are* historians have laid out exactly what transpired, and why. Some have even written books on it.

          4. “Some very smart people who *are* historians have laid out exactly what transpired, and why. Some have even written books on it.”

You should probably read those instead of ZeroHedge ramblings.

        2. I’m no great Historian … but didn’t the CIA depose a legitimately elected Ukraine govt. and implant their own puppet govt.? I’m no great historian, but didn’t Ukraine murder Russian citizens in the Donbas? You know … the region Russia has seized and will NEVER return to the CIA, err … Ukraine. Get over it LOSERS. Trump is putting the war to an end … and Russia gets to KEEP all the area taken by their Biden-approved minor incursion.

          1. “I’m no great Historian … ”

            Clearly.

“but didn’t the CIA depose a legitimately elected Ukraine govt. and implant their own puppet govt.? ”

            Nope.

            “I’m no great historian”

We have been in agreement over this already.

“, but didn’t Ukraine murder Russian citizens in the Donbas?”

            Nope again.

            Thanks for playing.

  5. There’s an underlying issue that could become very costly for the CDU party in Germany. They set these peace talks for Munich. Currently, momentum is with two political parties in that country for the February election. The CDU (Merkel’s party) and AfD (Alternative party which arguably the furthest to the right of the aisle).

The AfD lines up rather closely with the Trump administration. Trump is sending Rubio and JD Vance to initiate the peace conference. And, if they are successful in securing the peace with a world power such as Russia, that’s going to benefit the AfD.

I don’t think it was an accident that Trump and Putin agreed to Germany being the host. Although, I don’t think the powers that be in Germany thought it through.

    1. Well … I’m pretty sure Germany will claim they are hosting the GREENEST most carbon-free Peace talks in the history of the world.

No plastic water bottles, no plastic straws

  6. Negotiated peace is great news. Such a stupid and senseless war. The whole thing could so easily have been prevented. Millions of lives would have still been normal. So many deaths could have been prevented. So glad that the Military Industrial Complex in the US has been shown for the massive fraud that it is as its ‘advanced’ weapons were shown to be duds. Hopefully the US will learn its lesson and stay home instead of instigate violence on a national level.

    1. “Negotiated peace is great news. Such a stupid and senseless war. The whole thing could so easily have been prevented.”

I rarely agree with you, but can’t disagree on this. This was all about money and power, right from the start.

  7. This is bigger than Ukraine. We are seeing the reordering of the International world according to Trump. No more Bretton Woods Agreement. No more Washington Consensus. No more UN. No more NATO.

    – The US will be an island unto itself. Free to take over Greenland, Panama, Canada.
    – Russia will be an island unto itself. Free to complete its takeover of Ukraine, Georgia, and others.
    – China will be an island unto itself. Free to take over Taiwan (as long as they wait long enough for chip manufacturing to return to the US.), and Nepal, free to dominate the South China sea.

If the US will no longer protect Europe, and
if the US withdraws all military aid to Ukraine (the only way Trump can end the war and probably what his real goal is),
Will Europe roll over and play dead too?
    All of Europe?
They gotta know that they are being left out to dry.

    1. We are seeing the reordering of the International world according to Trump.

No, we are about to see the reordering of the international order according to the competing interests of the various players. What happens according to Trump has just shrunk massively.

They gotta know that they are being left out to dry.

They know now (apart from idiot HMGOVUK, probably). So place your bets on the next country to get nukes. The US just lost its veto on that. Sweden could do it in less than a month; they have the materials and the technical armaments expertise. Finland, Poland and Romania might do a development deal.

South Korea and Japan will also be reconsidering the value of any US alliance. Other countries, too. Anyone who doesn’t get nukes now deserves to fall to those that do. Israel should be pumping them out like there’s no tomorrow, because for them there probably isn’t.

      1. It was Trump’s actions that started it.
Of course the world will reorder according to the competing interests of the various players.
That is why I listed 3 who have a lot more freedom to move than they did before.
The only ones who don’t seem to get it are those who reside directly to his north.

        1. It was Trump’s actions that started it.

Well yes, just as it was Hirohito’s actions that started phase 2 of WWII. But what happened after that did not happen according to Hirohito . . .

          1. Oh, look, another sock puppet arrived, living in a world of paranoia.
I’ll give you the same advice I give the other sock puppets.
Buy a one-way ticket to Ukraine, and LARP yourself. Immediately.
You’re such a brave little keyboard warrior. /s

    2. Yes all hail imperialism! Let’s go back to the constant wars over scraps of land pre ww2.

History is a good thing to learn.

  8. I wonder if Trump and Putin discussed Canada too. He didn’t mention in his Truth that he was going to be calling Governor Trudeau to inform him of the discussions.

    1. Trump and Putin need to Balkanize Canada, make Ontario a neutral buffer zone like western Ukraine.

  9. We’ll never know, but maybe it wouldn’t have started at all if Trump had done a consecutive term.

    1. “We’ll never know, but maybe it wouldn’t have started at all if Trump had done a consecutive term.”

I’m not a betting man, but I would put money on that.

      1. “There is literally not a shred of reason to believe that.”

There is plenty of evidence to support it, but attempting to explain any of it to you would be like trying to teach a dog algebra.

        1. No there isn’t. And I learned more algebra and calculus than you could ever know. So did most dogs.

          1. Reason?
            Nobody cares what you think.
Because: you’d rather tens of thousands of dead bodies than peace or, at least, not war…that’s your reasoning.

          2. Agreed, Unthing is wrong, and stupid too. But it keeps wanting to prove it over and over.
The war would never had started under Trump.
It started because KamalalalaDingDong stated, 4 days before, that the US would allow Ukraine into NATO.
The ultimate STUPID thing to do, by the stupidest candidate for pres.
But she’s Unthing’s hero. Speaks volumes.

        2. Ugh Freddie don’t go in there, really, you don’t strike me like someone who can do much math.

    2. With that I agree completely. Few want to remember that Trump wasn’t afraid to play hardball with Pootin in Syria and that deliveries of weapons to Ukraine started under his administration.

  10. What with all the winning the Ukraine has done, I’m sure they’ll be satisfied with all the new territory they took.
Poor Russia will just have to be satisfied with what they have now, what with getting stuck in the mud at the beginning, fighting with shovels and all that Russian territory the Ukraine took.

    1. You got so excited you’re posting under two names in the same thread again? Careful there, you don’t want to be caught speaking to yourself like the last time.

  11. Time for Germany and the other adults to swoop in with armaments and pull the rug out under this nonsense. Canada can and must contribute by ramping up artillery production and shipping it off to Ukraine.

There is only one means of peace: total crushing defeat of Russia.

    1. “There is only one means of peace: total crushing defeat of Russia.”

Awesome. Next up: the evil, debilitating scourge of gravity.

        1. That is absolutely correct. The questions are how long can they keep eating themselves and how long would it take them to recover to attack again, and where the attack would take place?

    2. And there I was praising you above. Oh well, a cat must have run across your keyboard I suppose.
Germany are as far from being adults as possible and always ready to go back to collaboration with russia. You have to be completely tone deaf to misread German political landscape to predict that Germany has any interest in leading a defense of Ukraine. Of all EU players Germany has the least interest in that.

  12. So, so far we have 76 comments from people who know what will happen for sure based on a brief report about a f@#$ing courtesy call.

Both Trumpets and TDSers have decided that their predicted version of events will happen.

Here is my prediction (and it is a really easy one): none of what you have predicted above will happen. The war will go on for at least three to four more months. Pootin has zero interest in ending it now without concessions that would made Trump look very weak.

      1. No I am suggesting that you are a compression impaired demagogue. But that isn’t news.

Also russia has already lost (no gains now will compensate their geopolitical loses so far) and there is no question that russia would be much better off without this war.
