“The discretion afforded Justice Department attorneys with respect to those responsibilities does not include latitude to substitute their personal political views or judgments for those that prevailed in the election,” the memo states.
“When Justice Department attorneys refuse to faithfully carry out their role by, for example, refusing to advance good-faith arguments or declining to sign briefs, it undermines the constitutional order and deprives the President of the benefit of his lawyers,” the memo continues.
Bondi, in the memo, states that “any Justice Department attorney who declines to sign a brief, refuses to advance good-faith arguments on behalf of the Trump administration, or otherwise delays or impedes the Justice Department’s mission will be subject to discipline and potentially termination.”
Bondi is set to establish the “Weaponization Working Group,” which will review the activities of all law enforcement agencies over the past four years to identify instances of “politicized justice.”
The working group’s first reviews will include prosecutions against Trump led by former Special Counsel Jack Smith; Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg; and New York Attorney General Letitia James, who brought the civil fraud case against Trump and his family.

If the cities in their wisdom, or lack of it, wish to be sanctuary cities, they can do it on their own taxpayers’ dime. They won’t get Federal funding.
Really? Federal overreach? These immigration laws are on the books. Refusal to allow their application and outright obstruction of doing so is not an overreach of the Federal Govt. Just the opposite, it is an overreach of the State and/or municipality.
It will all be immaterial by the time the usual Lawfare crew works it up the legal ladder, however. The House already passed a bill that allows withholding bailout funds to States and Municipalities not complying with Federal Law. And, now that there is a majority in the Senate, it will get there eventually.
I expect the current administration to get even more creative. The executive office of the Fed. has the ability to deputize state law enforcement to enact Federal law. Guess which side of the coin law enforcement of these Sanctuary areas falls on.
The very notion of a “sanctuary” city flies in the face of federal law regarding aiding and abetting illegal aliens.
Why is it only “constitutional” to disobey, twist and/or contort the long-established laws of the USA?

I’ve been visiting and watched a bit of daytime TV this past week. CTV actually.
They have some afternoon political panel of talking heads who analyze the days political news. The panels consist of ‘consultants’, ‘strategists’ and ‘PR’ hacks who have all worked in some cab ministers office in their immediate past.
All of these ‘experts’ exist at the behest of their connections to government. They all know bureaucrats who pull the levers of power and hand out the lucrative contracts these people exist on.
I’ve read that the cost of ‘consultants’ at the federal level exceeds the actual cost of the bureaucracy itself. What is it bureaucrats do then if all decisions require consultants?
Federal government spending is out of control. I’m glad Trump is taking an axe to it. One can only hope the feds in Canada get jerked down the same way.
