Sun- Trudeau no longer speaks for Canada
Trudeau, a lame-duck PM who’s about to quit — with no credible mandate from the Canadian people to do so — will now be leading negotiations with Trump not just on trade and security matters, but on the future of Canada as a sovereign nation.
What Trudeau should be doing is calling an immediate election.
Hang on though.
Even though he makes me sick, Queerdeau has more of a mandate than whoever gets elected new leader of the Liberal Party.
We’re letting 14 year-old non-citizens vote on that.
And that person becomes the Prime Minister.
If its Con Carney, then also without a seat in parliament.

And Carney could choose to ignore the four year fixed election date legislation, and with the connivance of Jagmeet, govern until September 2026.

Trudeau can call an election now!! He is still the leader of the Liberals and only said he Intends to resign and has not resigned!!

This situation looks a lot like 1979. PET had stepped down as the leader of the LPC and progressive conservative Joke Lark was PM in a minority government.
The Joke Lark government lasted 9 months and T1 came off the mat to form another librano majority.
Everything has changed since November. Trump is the issue. The 25% lead the CPC had is in the rear view mirror. All bets are off. A good chance there’ll be no election until 2026.
Unfortunately there will be no short term pain for long term gain this time around.
Yes, he is resisting his resignation. He could recall parliament, get defeated in non-confidence and lead the Liberals in an election, but his party might feel doublecrossed if he did that. Who knows, Liberals are hypocrites.
There will be an election this year. Unless he invokes the Emergencies Act, there is no mechanism to delay an election before the 4 year mandate.

The Conservatives still have more support than the Liberals and NDP combined. And as people wake up to the fake that Carney is worse than Trudeau, the Liberal support will continue to fall.
That appears to be our only hope, and it’s a slim one. You’re betting Canada’s future on Canada’s electorate. I have no faith that Canada’s electorate is smart enough to see the trap that’s being put before them, and they will walk right into it, and then ask after they fell for it… “who put that there?”
