  1. Sure. Go look for work to supplement decreasing sickness benefits, while the unemployment rate is skyrocketing.

Do these people ever hear themselves?

    1. They know. They don’t care. They have the exact same mentality as the ones who used to talk about “useless eaters” in 1936 Germany. Same theme, different word-salad.

What they’re actually hoping for is a mass cull of the old and sick. That’s how socialists roll.

    1. Sure, dump the sick old ladies out of long-term care to go flip burgers! Earn that pension, baby.

You notice -nobody- talks about giving disabled, fixed income seniors a tax cut, so their savings go farther?

      1. Probably has the same attitude towards seniors like Ceausescu did before he was riddled with bullets. At the age of 71.

        1. These people LOVED Covid. Loved it! Cleaned out the hospitals AND let them play Karen really hard.

      2. There are no takers like old people. GET A JOB.

“You notice -nobody- talks about giving disabled, fixed income seniors a tax cut, so their savings go farther?”

Oh but I do by supporting Unilateral Free Trade and open immigration and YIMBY.

        1. Yep, right on time: “There are no takers like old people.”

Love it. Keep talking, son. You’re doing great.

But while on the subject, maybe you should give some thought to what job a demented 85 Y.O. with limited mobility can do. Doorstop? Boat anchor?

          Traffic cone?

          1. Door greeter. Human ornament. Low-intensity sign rocker.

In any event, you’re being typically hysterical and dishonest about what the article says. It’s an overhaul of a system that costs more than the UK’s defense budget. They are not completely ending disability benefits.

        2. You are the least informed person in North America. You must be getting your intel from bubble gum comics.

        3. Only the UnPerson would be delusional enough to believe any government nowadays would lower taxes just because of free trade.

Governments don’t want to spend less, they want to spend more. The US and Argentina are the only exceptions at the moment that come to mind.

    2. Starmer’s just trying to buy more time for Labor’s unsustainable spending programs.

      1. You ask me, #Starmer is making it all up as he goes along, because he knows none of it matters. The real decisions about Britain’s future are being made in China, India and Pakistan, as far as he’s concerned.

  2. I’m on the fence on this one. I’m not sure I understand what the definition of “sick” is in this situation. If it includes claims of back injuries, knee injuries and disabilities of the like…that’s a totally different story. I’ll give you an example. At one time a small Greek island had over 600 people claiming to be legally blind to collect disability benefits. It was found when Germany bailed out the failing Greek system. Athens eventually stopped benefits on over 200,000 people due to fraud. Canada has taken in a wealth of immigrants, and one of the reasons certain countries are selected by a good portion of these immigrants is that benefits are easy to acquire. The same thing happens down in the US on a state by state basis. It’s why California is the promised land to many of these new arrivals.

This legislation seems to put responsibilities on the recipient of the benefits. That can be a good thing. With no goals, you can’t expect a progression. I could be wrong, but I get the sense that the purpose of this legislation is to identify and remedy fraud within the system. Unfortunately, the politically correctness of the creators disallows them to suggest that many are gaming the system…and that a vast majority might be new arrivals to the country.

Or not. I just have gotten used to the concept that liberals always have ulterior motives. Some are even politically incorrect, although they would never admit as much in polite company.

Having worked in the insurance industry years ago, I can attest to how back injuries and knee injuries don’t keep some people from doing all kinds of things like competing in a marathon (not making that up), bowling, lifting heavy boxes, taking a Pilates class.

    1. The Greeks also had a pension plan that paid money to the unmarried daughters of civil servants. What they found was these seeming spinsters would not officially marry so they could draw on their father’s pension while living common law with their husbands.

As far as I know, that pension perk was terminated.

    1. Because that would deny the racists an excuse to scapegoat immigrants for our problems. Also because illegals are not a remotely major cost center. In America, they are literally keeping SS afloat.

      1. Your narrative is disconnected from reality as always.

And you hate white people as well.

        1. He told you who he is when he said: “There are no takers like old people.”

That’s the whole thing in one sentence. Perfect encapsulation.

        2. He/she/it is s retard.
Wonder how many darkie/paki enrichers in the UK collect these benefits? Most of them don’t work.

    2. Deny benefits to illegal non-citizens?

That’s madness, sir! Think of all those government jobs, lost forever!

  3. Many socialistic Canadians think they have the Right of that the Government must provide for them. The Government of Canada is broke. These Canadians will soonrealize that, like Britain, you only have as many Rights as the Government can afford.

  4. But, but, but … what about my …

    Chronic pain
    Long COVID
    Burn Pit exposure
    Multiple chemical sensitivities
    Back problems
    RSV
    Chronic fatigue
    Sick Building syndrome
    Mold exposure

The list of mystery diseases is long … and it’s all caused by fossil fuels and, and, and … chemicals … ohhhhhhhhhh mommmaaaaaaaaa … that’s what my Chiropractor told me!
