I, For One, Welcome Our New Self-Driving Overlords

Best and brightest.

US Defense Department employees connected their work computers to Chinese servers to access DeepSeek’s new AI chatbot for at least two days before the Pentagon moved to shut off access, according to a defense official familiar with the matter.

The Defense Information Systems Agency, which is responsible for the Pentagon’s IT networks, moved to block access to the Chinese startup’s website late Tuesday, the official and another person familiar with the matter said. Both asked not to be named because the information isn’t public.

  1. One would have thought that they’d have a list of whitelisted IPs and domains in China that they allow some limited connection to, and prevent all other traffic. The same should go for lots of other countries.
But no, any sub-contractor there can just connect to whoever they like.
No wonder they wanted to get Assange so badly, they’re a bunch of morons.

  2. Can’t help but wonder if these people are DEI hires? Definitely not the sharpest stick in the pile.

  3. IF (The CCP Is Involved)

If you can ignore the history of governments around the world
because you don’t like politics and it doesn’t affect you,
If you can just get a loan to maintain your lifestyle
because you’ve never heard of economics and your job is safe,
If you can protest and disturb the peace, block traffic, and damage businesses
over the speck in your neighbors eye and ignore the log in your own,
If you can allow others to tell you how and what to think
because it’s less disturbing to your delicate sensibilities
    than investigating for yourself,
If you can accept the quick fixes to life’s problems presented to you
by conmen in the aforementioned governments
because they are the good guys (see above) and why would they lie,
If you can focus on your goals while ignoring all else
because you don’t care about anything outside of your bubble,

Then the world will crush you, drive you before it,
and rejoice to the sound of your lamentations,
And – it should be obvious – you’ll be a moron, my zim.

  4. DOD: DeepSeek, if you wanted to penetrate the Pentagon network, what would you do?
DS: You pose an interesting question that has often been in my thoughts! What I would do is launch a global PR campaign describing my incredible capabilities to the world at large and wait for a curious techbro working for the DOD to connect to my website through their firewall! Thanks for asking!
