Team Players

Basically, we’ll pretend to be on Team Canada if you fork over enough protection money. After all, you want to avoid “conflict”, don’t you?

First Nations also need to be partners in protecting and growing the economy in the face of Trump’s potentially devastating tariffs, the leadership council stressed.

“There can’t be a ’Team Canada’ [approach] if you don’t have a strong contingent of First Nations leadership sitting at that table with you,” Casimer said.

To avoid conflict and to craft a unified response, First Nations must have a voice at the table when decisions are being made that affect their lands and resources, she said, noting the council hasn’t been approached to be part of the tariff strategy.

  1. Can anybody explain to me why it is worth it to have this fight with the US just so as not to come up with a plan to impede the flow of fentanyl and illegal migrants across the border?

    1. Because it looks to infantile, weak Canadian sheep like daddy is trying to do something, so they will rush back into the arms of their abuser. C’mon, PDJT, make it 100% and end this shithole, officially.

    2. Having a fight with the US is pointless. All we need to do is: 1. stiffen our border security; 2. stop the flow of fentanyl into the US; 3. block the flow of illegal migrants into the US; 4. meet our own defense commitment of supporting the armed forces.

All of these things are in our own interest. Any sane government would do these things anyway. Our problem is that there is no easy way to get rid of Justatwit and his gang of thugs pretending to be national cabinet ministers.

    3. im Tay… It is inexplicable, other than just being a student council tantrum fueled by TDS.
      all I’ve got, bro.

    4. There you go trying to judge what’s happening based on what is common sense.

The obvious answer is that the decision makers on this side don’t want a crisis to go to waste.
But they also missed the bit that Trump may impose tariffs but he could do something else they haven’t planned for.

    5. I’m trying to determine whether Trump has made a strategic error or is playing 4D chess.

Negotiating with a foreign leader isn’t the same as negotiating with a business rival. A rival is responsible to the board. Humiliating them in public doesn’t matter as long as the deal is ultimately good for the shareholders.

A foreign leader has to get re-elected, and looking weak or losing face is death to re-election chances. Trump has left Trudeau no face-saving exit here. Trudeau cannot give Trump what he wants without looking like a prison b*tch to the electorate.

On the other hand, Trump might actually know this. He might be banking on Canadians seeing the US take off in the next ten months and realize how much worse they’ve got it. Which would drive them to voting for a more US-friendly administration. If Trudeau is going to run on “big bad evil US”, Trump might be gambling that Poilievre will run on the opposite of that.

      Who knows. Kremlinology, man.

      1. I doubt that Trump has taken any particular position. He is certainly not engaged in any kind of strategy against Trudeau; he has Trudeau’s measure to the inch and recognizes him as the useless eunuch he is. It looks to me like he is essentially giving Canada a pretty clear idea of what he wants, and motivating them to provide it, and then waiting to see what they can do. While giving them ample opportunity to discredit themselves with their lunatic hysteria. He’s not wasting time or energy on it.

  2. I think I’ve told the story here about a chief showing up in the band office the day after Obama got elected and instructed the band lawyer to get Obama on the phone. He had some stuff he wanted to talk to Zero about….

  3. Any negotiations with the we were here first people concludes the same way.
    “That will do….. for now”

  4. “Can anyone explain…”

If the Mexican cartels AND the CCP own our politicians it makes sense.

    1. Yes, then there’s the complication that maybe, just maybe, lotza drugs flow thru cross-border reserves … they may in fact BE stakeholders in keeping the status quo shit show in the promise of a sparkling future when the wind blows away the civilization they cannot do without, but are better than.

  5. We don’t need any advice from Wagonburners. You ungrateful Indians don’t know your role as a conquered People.

Know your role, and shut your mouth. We have had enough of your never ending whining.

    1. The redskins[1] have successfully destroyed any vestiges of white guilt, responsibility or even simple charity among the Canadian majority.

1980 White Paper now. Without restitution.

[1] Case in point: I’ve lost any motivation to be sensitive about epithets

  6. “…noting the council hasn’t been approached to be part of the tariff strategy.”

Why would they be? It’s not like they’re big economic contributors to the Canadian economy. Just what kind of input would they have for our side?

  7. DRIPA
Sounds like a suitable acronym for a wet diaper. How about STFU and try being Canadian for once in your wretched existence while you still can?!!
Well, be “First Nations” then; but realize a big part of that is being left out in the cold.
    What a bunch of ingrates.
Trump will bring you rubber bands.
The Chinese will be perplexed at first by the white men wearing headdresses. Upon realizing the scam for what it is they won’t be able to get you off of their shoes fast enough.
First Nations have two viable choices:
    1. Print and wear Elizabeth Warren T-shirts stating “I stand with Pocahontas.”
    2. Declare that Trump is right and urge Canadian leadership to respond appropriately.
