   1. Alberta doesn’t need to join the U.S. Alberta could stand alone as a country. It has about the same population as Norway and about the same GDP per capita. Same goes for Denmark and Finland, but the Alberta GDP per capita is considerably higher.

         3. The drinking age is 19 in BC with 18 in Alberta. Then it repeats that pattern going east.

         5. Kenji – back in the day, Alberta’s age was 18 and BC’s was 19. So nephew and buds came east to celebrate a year early. It was well organized: sis booked motel by the local “train” station so kids could get to and from the downtown party area and we were all on alert. Kids had a great time, topped off by breakfast at Granny’s (she was in her ’80s) which was some type of toaster waffles and extras which gave them enough fuel to head home.
            A few years later, nephew was in town and Granny took him to the local pub, to be joined by myself and youngest offspring. Nephew took one look at offspring ordering alcohol and proclaimed “my baby cousin can drink legally; I feel SOO old!”.

      1. I’m thinking Trump will repeat what he did during his first term and won’t start any wars, so at least 4 years will be without endless war.

6. If Canada frigs with Alberta oil exports we could declare independence, be recognized by the US the same day, and enter into a defense alliance. Joining the US is out of the question because they are nuttier and more dictatorial than Eastern Canada. All the fights that go on because of the federal government controlling public land in most of the western states is stupid.

14. If a green card or citizenship were offered to residents of a province, how fast would canadians from outside that province get an address there?
