  2. The great freeze…..In sub zero weather my car will run as long as I am in it. Add to that the seats are heated as is the steering wheel. A memo to the mayor, CO2 is not a pollutant or climate driver, those who think so are as dumb as a bag of rocks and less useful.

    1. Further to that, VOWG, Ottawa will have to hire one person with a stopwatch for every car in use and provide that person with a car to follow their suspect around to make sure ‘them thar rules is follered’.

      Of course, the idle-time enforcer’s car will be idling while waiting around for their suspect to start their car so the idle-time enforcer can start timing.

      Just when you think politicians have reached peak stupid, they manage to raise the bar a little higher.

          So, every cop will be running around with a stopwatch? And motorists will be taking their cases to court because according to their stopwatch, they were only idling 59 seconds.

          It won’t be enforced. The cops will be too busy arresting people for using the wrong pronouns to bother with car idling times.

            We have had an anti-idling bylaw in Vancouver for years. Most people don’t even know about it, and the ones who do just ignore it (the same way they ignore the anti-smoking bylaws in our parks and at our beaches). Every hospital also attempts to ban smoking ‘On our grounds’…you should see all the people outside the main entrance to Royal Columbian Hospital wearing hospital gowns and still hooked up to their IVs, smoking away. No one says a word.

            These are what I call ‘honour system’ rules. I won’t even get into bike helmets or jaywalking.

            So I guess I’ll drive around now while I do it and burn even more gas.
