While we have never participated in rodeos (except as being part of the crowd!), my family has been in the horse riding circuit (dressage and several jumping styles) for a good 15 years, and I have seen my share of really scary-looking accidents. I am grateful for the paramedics and crew that will jump at a heart-beat to assist a rider after a fall, and all of our fellow coaches and riders that do their best to regain control of the runaway horse. Running into a field with flaying arms while a horse is on the loose requires a lot of confidence. Unfortunately, I have also witnessed horses getting badly injured. These tend to be very sad moments.
