  1. The devil is in the bold print. People are struggling to pay their utilities and rent, so let’s have a 5% discount on beer, wine, junk food and video games.

No one will be more excited about this move than those who like expensive wine and have the spare cash to stock up.

  2. without fail , if the feds do something its effed up

I think Terry Tam is still on board and the two weeks to flatten the curve is over.

  3. Typical government bureaucratic fu@k up. The liberal way. No rational thinking.
The same mind set as “The budget will balance itself” mentality.

  4. The two months no GST is just an attempt by Trudeau/Singh to prevent the release of the green slush fund documents.

The corruption must be pretty bad to have this much effort to hide it.

    1. I’m waiting for the conservatives to put forth an amendment requiring the release of the documents as part of this new bill.

  5. I work for an accounting firm. We have “indirect tax” specialists who mostly work on federal and provincial sales tax issues for companies. I attended a talk about this last week. He was scratching his head at how stupid it was, because of the effort and cost in the businesses manpower to implement and also remove when it’s over. At the same time he was happy because they’ll be paying us for advice on how to document/handle all this when it comes time to file their tax returns, and he gets more chargeable hours. This is another cost to these businesses, which they will need to pass on to customers, all of which will negate any savings from the little GST holiday.
