Climate claptrapping – climate alarm, but no alarm about a supertanker about to sink

The Houthis keep trying to blow up a loaded supertanker, and no one’s stopping them

The Houthis have, on multiple occasions now, set explosives on a fully loaded oil supertanker in the Red Sea. Their initial attack had the crew abandon ship, and since then they’ve repeatedly boarded it, set explosives, blew it up, while they filmed the whole thing and posted it online! And the production quality is really good – drone footage, onboard. You’d think it was a professional production!

For reference, the Exxon Valdez spilled 240,000 barrels of crude. The Sounion is carrying a million barrels.

Two podcasts for you on Labour Day:

Energy Realities Podcast: The Real Climate Claptrapping – Climate Alarm!

Irina Slav, Tammy Nemeth, and Stu Turley will be live talking about the most critical threat to our world, democracy, and our finances, “Climate Alarm.” or “Claptrapping”. Apparently if you question climate change, you’re no longer a denier, but producing climate claptrap.

Nemeth Report: Brad Hayes on energy literacy

Dr. Tammy Nemeth interviewed Dr. Brad Hayes, a sedimentary geologist, on energy literacy.  I signed up for his course last year but simply didn’t have time to follow through on it. I will get to it one of these days.

  1. As you lose your war.. Your propaganda starts to ring hollow.. This is where victory becomes less important than doubting the victory.. Any war worth winning wraps itself up in a reasonable amount of time.. Wars that last forever are never worth fighting.. Shadow boxing grifters, celebrating some dusty old revolution..

Civil war reenactors running your country.. LARPing your money out the side door.. Endless war..

    1. The summer of my 19th year, I had gathered with former HS buds at our local “Freddie’s Pizza” shop. Our town’s meeting spot. A former classmate walked up to me … with a buzzcut so tight I didn’t even recognize him … he hands me his business card emblazoned with the USMC logo … and the business card simply read: “Killing is my business, and business is good”

The humor and shock value were not lost on me. But now … 50 years on … the “business” part of that shocking motto has taken on a whole new meaning. As war is BIG business. Multi-Billion dollar business. A business “too big to fail”. Unless We The People stop it.

  2. Maybe the owners should not have chanced it until the issue is cleared up. I keep hearing here that we should supply Ukraine with long range missiles and permission to strike deep inside of Russia when Russia knows full well, as was admitted in that leaked intercept of a phone call from a German general, that Ukraine cant program the missiles, doesn’t have the targeting info, can’t build the missiles, all they can do is push the launch button, but think about what would happen if the Russians retaliate by supplying the Houthis with warship killing missiles. Oh, that’s right, it’s OK when the US supplies proxies with weapons, you know, like we did the Taliban in 1979, prior to the Soviet invasion, BTW, as was admitted by Jimmy Carter’s national security adviser, or when NATO deliberately shoots down a commercial jet with dozens of civillians because we thought that Qaddafi was on it, as was admitted by a former Italian prime minister, a crash that was never investigated fully, and was blamed on a “stray missile” as if that were the end of the investigation.

Oh yeah, and maybe we shouldn’t have set a precedent of not caring about the environment by blowing up Nordstream, or at the very least, we celebrated it when the Ukrainians blew it up, which is what I think really happened.

    1. You literarily got everything backwards. But in that madness there is a kernel of truth. Yes it is all connected to russia and russia is responsible. Which is one of many reasons why russia needs to be eliminated.

Also Notrdstream was a natural gas pipeline, shortbus.

      1. “… not caring about the environment by blowing up Nordstream, …” so blowing up pipelines is good for the environment? That seems to be what you’re saying…

Isn’t that precious. You think the regular bus is the short one, and probably that you’re chauffeured (1 driver, no more than 3 or 4 passengers).

The Green New World Order makes it possible for Russia to retake much of Ukraine without really alarming Germany, huge environmental damage results. Not a shocker.

        1. Blowing up gas pipelines is pretty neutral for environment. As evident with Nord Stream.

The rest of your post makes no sense so I will ignore it.

  3. The quicker Trump is voted in the quicker these scumbag terrorists are bombed out of existence. The US could easily track them and bid them adieu with a single well-placed Hellfire missile, or even give some A-10 Warthog pilots target practice with their 30mm cannon.

It’s win-win, really: no more economic strangleholds or environmental catastrophes, and the 12th century barbarians get their 72 virgins.

    1. Not how it works. You can’t bomb them with one missile and be done with it. They are a proxy of Iran and Iran is a proxy of Moscow. Houtis, just like Hamas and Hezbollah were mobilized by russia in order to divert western support of Ukraine elsewhere.

      1. Nope, you don’t roll over because Moscow is (maybe) supporting things.

First you stop the boatloads of Maobama cash to iran and restart the oil sanctions. Then you send the US Navy with an “open season” mandate to eradicate every terrorist houthi in a rowboat, no exceptions. Tell Vlad to sit this one out Or Else. And if – please, please – a few iranian ships want to provide cover for the H terrorists, why, they can go virgin searchin’ too.

You don’t fkuc around with these ME sh1theels and their iranian proxies: direct action is what they respect and give it to them hard. Sitting your POTUS mentally-deficient ass on a beach while the world goes to hell isn’t working.

  4. Help me out here, I’m just a simple product of Western culture and a linear thinker. Are you telling me these clowns are determined to destroy their own environment?

    1. Oh my dear ‘Exasperated’ … “Intersectionality”. That is the word you’re searching for. The intersection between the “struggle” against capitalism by the International “Greens” … and the “struggle” for “Palestinian” independence.

And since Israel, the pig manure State created by Capitalist dogs is the one beacon of Capitalism in the Middle East … well then, a little environmental degradation is acceptable in the … in the … struggle.

  5. Where are the US SEAL teams? In the past, this sort of thing would have been dealt with swiftly.

    1. You want a SEAL team to neutralize more than 100K of head chopping followers of the desert pedophile who are supplied by russia via Iran? I say let Chicoms, Indians and their Arab brothers solve that problem.

  6. Ha Ha …. Brad was in my geology class at University of Toronto. Brad went on to get his PhD and I buggered off to the Univ of Ottawa and finished my degree there.
That was a few years ago 😉 …. I’ve been retired since 2008.

In Calgary for 44 years and I have only seen Brad a few times but we are both so old now we could likely walk right by each other and not know it.

  7. I was thinking about this the other day. The moose limbs are going to sink a whole freaking supertanker in the Gulf, releasing a cubic buttload of oil to make the biggest slick since the Exxon Valdez.

Where, oh where, is Just Stop Oil?

Come on, enviros! No guts no glory! Picket the Iranians, see what happens.

    1. Reduce, reuse, recycle. Offer the Just Stop Oil protesters some of those inflatables the migrants cross the channel with. I think they’d be on board for that. Probably just too bashful to ask.

    2. Oh they’ll be there… when the slick happens they will be right there to say “See! We told you that we have to stop using fossil fuels! Why oh why didn’t you listen to us???”

  8. and no one’s stopping them..
    —–
Its either they want the environmental disaster / war on oil propaganda piece OR its a trap that neither the USA or any of its allies are willing to walk into.. A zero carbon government swooping in to save a oil tanker?..

Maybe if it were filled with EV batteries and windmill blades they would feel differently?.. I doubt it..

The fact is Iran can stop all shipping along its coast.. Well within its capabilities 100X over.. That’s 50% of global trade, gone or severely delayed.. Europe and America will spin out of control.. = Let it burn, so boobies can win the next election?.. I think so..

    1. Ugh you may want to take a look at a globe. The trade lines from US to Europe go across North Atlantic. They are wide open. It is mainly Chicom and Indian trade that is being sabotaged. Chicoms even sent a delegation of Tehran asking Turbans to call of their attack dogs. Turbans offered Chicoms opportunity to pound sand. That is why US has no reason to clean it up. Let Chicoms and Indians do it. Do go on.

    1. In principle I agree, but Houtis are just pawns. Still, nothing of value would be lost, so why not?

  9. It is hilarious how all you noble isolationists now want Brandon Alzheimer to do something. The world is a mostly evil place and it is up to the civilized to keep the savages on the leash and curb stomp them if only for practice.

  10. Always a hoot when you think of the responses are all about whose ox is being gored. When the US declares no fly zones or no shipping zones they are righteous and to be honoured. Woe to those who trespass against the great USA. Suddenly when Yemen declares a no shipping zone they are a bunch of rag head terrorists that nuking is too good for them. What a bunch of clowns. I am not in favour of either side. I just get a laugh out of those who are partisan. When Israel stops committing genocide in Gaza things will settle down. Until then the US should simply stay home and let the two fight it out amongst themselves. We are not better off supporting Israel nor are we better off supporting Yemen. A plague on both their houses.

    1. Israel is no commuting genocide in Gaza. Israel is chloroixing the head chopper gene pool. That is not genocide, just good hygiene.

        1. Paleosimians FAFO. Hopefully they will remember the lesson long and hard… those that are left anyway.

  11. 100% a psyop. The ship was supposed to break up and spill oil. Cue the 1000 government funded NGOs screaming “SEE! We told you that we need to get off fossil fuels! Now look at all the fishies and sea cucumbers you killed!”

    1. Good point Mr. Smacky. Why isn’t that ship sunk already?

What… no explosives below the waterline and the valves and hatches opened? Why not, if you want a massive oil spill?

Something seems amiss, but not really. I suspect things are proceeding according to plan.
