    1. RE: Adler as Manitoba Senator. Are we are now at the point where if your Aeroplane ever touches down for an hour or two in a province you are qualified to represent that province even as you live halfway across the country?

    2. Adler really did drink the Kool Aid and power sucked for Trudeau et al. I used to respect the guy, but over the past few years, he has become Canada’s version of Baghdad Bob.

  1. Finally, the perfect solution for all of the suddenly unemployed Corus bingo callers.

  2. The re-definition of words..
    Very Orwellian.
    Independent.
    Open .
    Honest.
    Fair.
    Ethical.
    Help.
    Is,is.

One of the reasons for bilingualism is the freedom to lie in two languages.
On the brightside, when we cut through all the mouth noises, the end conclusion is “They Lie”.
The parasites must lie or their gravy train ends.
    Their words,there for, mean nothing.
Only their actions can speak for them.
Behold Can Ahh Duh and the State Of Thuggery..
(And we thought a Sot was a boozehound..)

    All the observed actions?
    Are treason by my standard.
So Liberals and all who enable them, are my known enemies.

Now treason does prosper, when none dare call it treason.
Another “word” with no modern meaning.
    But the results ?
    They speak for themselves.

    1. “One of the reasons for bilingualism is the freedom to lie in two languages.”

John Robertson – I’m going to steal that tres bon mot! Brilliant!

  3. Maybe this was his end game? He will now reveal that he was a rational adult all along?

Or is Justin’s warm embrace enough to overcome an ignominious failure and betrayal of the people he’s now supposed to represent?

  4. The Senate has quite the cast of former journalist with no experience in enacting policies? OH well as long as they are loyal to Herr Leader.

    1. Fortunately the senate has no real power, they can delay but not prevent legislation. It is just a reward system for supporters of whatever party is in power when the appointment is given.

  5. Charles Adler. His last name at least would indicate Jewish heritage? No problem joining the Hamas party if the money is right, I guess? Most Canadian Jews deserve their fate, as they put money, favour and social standing ahead of their own people.

    1. I know you think if you jump on the bandwagon of Jew hate they will deem you a good comrade and leave you alone. They won’t.

        1. Judging by the tales in the Old Testament, Someone Else isn’t that fond of them either.

    2. New headline ‘Child of holocaust survivors joins the anti- sematic Fascist Party of Canada’

  6. Adler was paid for services rendered to the Trudeau Liberal-NDP government. This was what I was talking about last week when I said that media and others who do the bidding of the political class because they are given an offer they can’t refuse are Canadian society’s second weakest link. The weakest link are those who aren’t even getting rewarded for selling out their integrity and principles – the weakest links are the “I’m just following orders” people in society.

  7. There’s no whore like an old whore.
How fitting that Adler gets his trough swill appointment, carrying the water for the execrable Trudeau Fiberals, and well before the election that tosses the Turd and his minions out.

  8. He sure rewards his good little propagandists well. What’s the count now of media-turned-politician?

  9. Hey Charles, we hardly knew thee, eh.
How many votes did you get? Oh yeah, just ONE!
    Pity!!
    What am eff’d up country!!

    1. Agreed marc, but 10 is too many. Maybe 6. (Remember the northern territories/provinces.)
Agree about PEI – they have 4 MPs which is 3 too many.
I would like to see the supreme court abolished. If some law or decision is above the provincial appeal courts to decide on, it can be referred to the senate. An equal senate that can then be put to some use.
By the way, my money says that 99% of those walking the streets downtown right now could not name one member of the supreme court.
      Any bets?

    2. Eff that New brunswick can have em. We have one dependent island full of Librano grifters, we don’t need two. With no apologies whatsoever to Cape Welfare (Breton).

      1. C’mon, NB is 20% French.
That’s worth a Liberal Newfland, the Capers and PEI together.
My riding in NB has been blue 98% of the time since 1867.
Used to be to 5 to 6 solid blue seats until Harper played stupid politico.
Apparently though, enough English want to vote for the FRENCH FIRST Quebec Liberal party, that just like Canada, the French tail wags the English dog.
        And wag they do.
Anybody that tells you that PostMedia is conservative is lying.

  10. A body that employs a system of patronage will always devolve into one that awards appointments based on the appointee’s ability to polish the turds of their patron.
No matter how many layers of bureaucracy are placed in the process.
Before everyone goes out on the social network badlands and discourses with a rage inflected diatribe, two things.
First, if one must criticize this appointment publicly, do so with mockery.
Second, as officially this is an appointment by the crown on the advice of the PM.
    So.
If on day one of his administration Poilievre “advises” the crown that based on intelligence from CSIS, RCMP, and allied intelligence, there are compromised members currently sitting in the senate. But due to the inability to determine who they are, that he advises the GG all senators should be expelled so that the integrity of Parliament can be ensured with new members whose background can be verified.
She refuses, Pierre counters with a petition to HRH C3, alternatively offering to table a constitutional amendment to make the senate an elected body.

  11. Is Addler his real name,or the Label now chosen as he serves in Canada’s Senate.
Where being addled is a prerequisite.

    Sober Second thought?
    In Can Ahh Duh’s Institutions?

Abolishment by fire and guillotine may be our only hope.
    When all hope is gone.

Western Independence would be the least bloody way out, but such things only get properly thought about when their time has already passed.
    And time is slipping away.
    Supertramp comes to mind..

Independent Liberal senators..Dear Leader just loves insulting tax payers.
I am quite certain he and every other freedloader in Canada ,sees tax payers as beneath contempt..
    Just like voters..
An Dear Leader has some justification for doing so..
    “They elected him 3 times”.
    “Free healthcare”
    “Good Government”
    “Public safety”.

  12. 10 years ago Adler realized his retirement plan wasn’t gonna cut it.

Frank: “Andrew Coyne, hardest hit” = winning quote of the week! Perfect!!

  13. Justin, if you’re reading this, please realize my disappointment at not being named to the Senate. I realize I’d never be a particularly effective Senator, but I wouldn’t be the worst, either.
And frankly, I sure could use the cash.

  14. Note the date: this is about the Harper Senate, as the spending scandal broke.

Harper hated the Senate – as a Reformer, his position was to abolish [like the NDP]
So he didn’t appoint any at first.

But in 2008 he was reelected with another minority by 22% of the eligible voters.
To avoid a confidence vote he prorogued parliament.
// Then it dawned on Harper how useful the Senate could be in his quest of retaining power and creating a permanent ruling Conservative juggernaut [which] can be seen by reviewing Harper’s appointees, which included Mike Duffy, Pamela Wallin, Patrick Brazeau and Irving Gerstein (chair of the powerful fundraising arm of the party, the Conservative Fund Canada) – all of whom played a part in the Senate spending scandal.

They were appointed to achieve a dual purpose: first, keep the party’s coffers full; second, keep the faithful in the small towns and suburbs voting Tory […]
Thus, by 2013, when the spending scandal broke open, the Senate had been transformed into a wing of the Tory party’s fundraising and election apparatus

    Why Harper corrupted the Senate

That’s the Senate Manitoba’s new Senator was talking about. Cost them the next election.
    Under Trudeau’s rules
‘ All Canadians may now apply directly for a Senate appointment at any time,
or nominate someone they believe meets the merit criteria.
Both new senators were appointed by Gov. Gen. Mary Simon after being recommended
by the independent advisory board for senate appointments that was created in 2016.

  15. If we are to continue with a senate then we had better get our act in gear, trudeau has loaded the deck in his favor (liberal) for when he is gone for yrs to come.
The Unelected Senate should not have power over the elected.
I have for 50 plus yrs disagreed with this joke of house of sober 2nd thought.
Elect them or get rid of them.

  16. Do I recall a change in Adler some 18 months or so ago; was this when the Senate promise was made?

  17. The independent senator label is a joke. Muggli is a long term Liberal supporter. Just( in) rewards for the party faithful. Does Justin think we don’t notice that is the nature of these appointments. How about some honesty and call them what they are. We could live with that.

    1. Last month he appointed Victor Boudreau.
      Former NB Liberal Party Leader.
As independent as a Liberal promise is true.
