Over the nine years it has been in power, the Trudeau government has shuffled senior officials 98 times, with more than 300 specific changes – some individuals multiple times. On average, there have been about 10 shuffles per year. Meanwhile, there are now 41 deputy ministers – more than ever before.
I like President Meili (sp?) of Argentina. Approximately 2 weeks after his election, he eliminated half of the government departments and ALL of the civil servants in those departments.
I was a relief secretary working in Department of Finance and Treasury Board during the first 2 summers of university (1972, 1973). I was paid, but did very little, brought books in to read, knitted. The only time there was any activity was the second Friday of every month when the paycheques (no direct deposit then) were handed out. I bet it is still the same, a bunch of useless idiots who could not get jobs in the private sector.
I would say you are correct in most cases. There are some who actually have to do the “business” of Canadians. That said, like Meili we could lose 50% of them.

The churn exists because they are a government maelstrom of suck. Incompetent, uncaring, no regard for the public purse, just being there so that they can say they were there.

I will say one thing and that is they are very adept at finding “new revenue sources “ . The left’s penchant for spending will never change , and so to feed the beast they have to find new ways of picking our pockets . One third of Canadians don’t get it and never will . Add an adoring media and you don’t have to be a Mensa to figure out what’s going on .

One of the few good things that came out of the lockdowns, I was able to renew my PAL and my AME licence and had the plastic cards in my hand in under a week, 5 business days, to be exact!

The federal government needs to be cut back furiously to start with. BIG cuts. Then the feds have to cut their tax take by a minimum of 30%. The tax room passed over to the provinces. Canada is a confederation and as such is not dictated to by Ottawa. In fact, Ottawa is technically SUBSERVIENT to the provinces in a confederation.
As the old saying goes, Canada will come out of an economic malaise the second Ottawa goes into one.
Don’t forget that they are now entitled to their entitlements.
I didn’t think civil servants had the guts to churn. Oh well, let’s all sing the new theme song of the civil service: “To everything, churn, churn, churn, there is a season, churn churn churn…”
