  1. So the showers are still full blast at the gay clubs?

For months, City of Calgary has warned of water shortages due to drought, even while we had a nicely wet spring without excessive temps…

It seems too convenient of a water main break. City maintenance is still grooming those rainbow crosswalks, the public art exhibits… while municipal taxes took a 7% jump and the City unions have given notice of job action to speed up their contract demands of near 30% for a few years contract.

    Life’s great!

  2. Don’t worry Jyoti is on top of the situation.
A DEI team has been called to city hall.

Justin will arrive, wearing a pair of blue socks, and hand out paper drink box water bottle thingys.

  3. It is common practice for municipalities to ignore infrastructure maintenance….and when it craters, the municipality will whine to the province and feds for money to fix it. This is what happens when municipalities forget what the hell they were created for.

  4. This is an example of infrastructure in Canada. Held together by duct tape and bailing wire with no plan B because they didn’t replace the last rolls of tape and wire.

  5. I got up this morning at about 4:30 (I am an early riser) in SE Calgary, saw the story from the watermain break, saw the possibility of a water use ban and did my laundry, a load of dishes and turned on all my weeping hoses and watered my garden thoroughly. A public notice popped up on my phone at around 6:30.
Apparently my home, which is about as far away from the watermain break as you can get, is on a completely different system.
    The garden looks great!

    1. Good plan!
Of course there’s more than one water source.
      Bearspaw NW (Bow river)
      Glenmore reservoir SW (Elbow river)
      Any more?
      hallo?

      1. I get it from the sky, and I get it from the sea. The Good Lord gives this water to me.

    2. Your southern water is supplied from Glenmore Reservoir and the north end of the city is supplied by Bearspaw Dam, there is provision to supply the entire city from one source but I can’t imagine how much of a big deal The Mayor would make if that needed to be the case.

The dividing line is near to the Bow and roughly continues east along that line

  6. ha ha ha!!! back in the early 70s my dad worked for the city. he told me how the engineers lamented the fact city hall pretty much ignored most advisories regarding the then 80 or so year old downtown main line.

which sho nuff popped but much to city hall credit didnt happen intil 2010 or so, so they staved off things 40 years.

could have been a pickle, happened bout a month before deep freeze.

  7. If this doesn’t get fixed in under a week, look for Kurt Russell to star in “Escape From Calgary”. I wonder what things are like at Costco these days given how well everyone behaved before when toilet paper was in high demand.

  8. When the water is finally turned back on … it will be infected with the latest bio weapon devised by the WHO and Fauxci …

EVIL is in full control of our culture … it’s time to fight back

  9. Complicated, meaning very expensive to fix.. Never mind the skill and the equipment to do the job in any reasonable amount of time.. You know, what used to be known as your job.. Or the reason why we pay taxes..

Meh.. Pride parades and international politics is much more fun..
