Israel reportedly struck a site in Iran early Friday in retaliation for Tehran firing a barrage of missiles and drones at Israel late Saturday.

The semiofficial Fars news agency reported on the sound of explosions over Isfahan near its international airport. It offered no explanation for the blast. However, Isfahan is home to a major airbase for the Iranian military, as well as sites associated with its nuclear program.

Unconfirmed: Iraqi sources report that airstrikes in the capital city of Baghdad have targeted a building where a high-level meeting was being held with the presence of several groups supported by Iran and members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

  5. Too early to see what happens but, so far, Iran is outright denying the severity of this attack and, going so far, to move the goal posts (e.g., “IRGC threatens ‘tit-for-tat’ retaliation if Israel targets Iranian nuclear sites” – Tehran Times – April 19, 2024 – 1:39AM EST).

    Whereas Israel, on the other hand, would have liked to played oblivious to the attacks had the Pentagon not leaked their intentions (e.g., Israeli sources to Post: ‘An eye for an eye’; not clear why Pentagon leaked info on attack – The Jerusalem Post – Aprul 19, 2024 – 08:33 IDT).

    However, come morning across the western front, we should have conflicting reports of what method of attack was used (e.g., drones, missles, etc) and exactly what was hit.

    Interesting times.

    Iran was shooting antiaircraft rounds every where. Reminds me of the Iraq war with the US.
    They didn’t think about these rounds coming back to the ground or where they might land.
