The Libranos: All In Da Family

CBC;

Federal Liberals have been promising to appoint the “most meritorious jurists” to judicial vacancies across Canada, but most candidates winning judicial appointments in New Brunswick over the last year have had something else going for them — personal connections to senior Liberal MP Dominic LeBlanc.

Five of the last six federal appointments announced in New Brunswick include Leblanc’s neighbour, a LeBlanc family relation and three lawyers who helped retire debts from his unsuccessful 2008 leadership bid. LeBlanc is currently minister of intergovernmental affairs, northern affairs and internal trade.

(Update: The story is from 2019 — it came across my feed today and I didn’t check the date.)

    1. Oh, I have known for at least 42 years that New Brunswick is one of the most corrupt provinces. I dated a guy from NB in 1980 and he would brag that if you needed a job, you just got in touch with your local Liberal MP and presto! next day you were on the payroll.
I have been to the Maritimes only in 1985. A very beautiful part of Canada, but there was a lot of “I’m alright Jack” attitude and a lot of dependency on all levels of government. Now, this might have changed in the intervening 39 years, but based on this posting, I think not.

        1. Something about a splinter in my eye and a log in yours…

NB has never been dumb enough to vote in an NDP govt.

Hello Ontario, Alberta, BC, Sask, Man…..

To say nothing of Lotusland, Redmonton, Nenchi, Notley, Winnipeg Ralph, Tommy D and on and on ad nauseam…..

And you folks haven’t even been blessed with a 30% French speaking, 100% Liberal voting cohort.

My riding has voted Conservative as often as the Toronto Star has supported the Liberal Party.

Something like 99 out of the last 100 elections. And Elsie won that one next door.

Half of Ontario has moved here in the last 5 years. Seems like they are loving it and we are coping.

Let me tell ya, it’s hard defending(and keeping secret) things like affordable housing, lots of work, endless nature, no crime and friendly neighbors in these wacky times.

Lieberals are so popular because Conservatives are so stupid.

Getting beat like a drum and loving it (how else the constant losing?) is the most obvious Conservative characteristic.

Geez, even Joe Bfsplkt feels sorry for them.

PP will either be the latest incarnation of Joe or Kim (your friendly neighborhood conservative Liberal); or best case, Little Stevie, wherein a few conservative tidbits are produced (easily and quickly reversed by Liberals of course) and PP ensures that Tory times are hard times remains a thing and joining the Liberal Party is the path to future riches.

Blow it up or stay home PP.

In Canada, The Fix is always in.

          1. Dear Mr. or Ms. The fix is in, that is one of the best comments I’ve read here in years. Well done.

  1. Interesting you posted this. A very Randian/objectivist friend forwarded me the same piece this morning… he says from a reliable freedom oriented forum. The piece is from 2019… I noticed it referenced Lametti as justice minister, which prompted me to check the date. We are all being played by AI and/or agents procateur

    1. So 5 years ago! No way CBC would run this today. I’m surprised CBC hasn’t purged it from Canadian history.

    2. So the CBC ran it 5 years ago. Just because it happened 5 years ago doesn’t make it ok, and who knows… With all the scandals plaguing the governing Lie-berals, I wouldn’t be surprised to learn if it is still happening. The corruption runs pretty deep in that party.
BTW… just to be precise, the piece was published in July of 2019. The 2019 federal election took place in October.
      …Just sayin’

  2. The just us system of Canada. appoints the “most meritorious jurists.”
The Librano$ know the merit of judges that can be relied on to make the right ruling.

  3. Now if only they would appoint judges who were not rabid socialists/communists.
An appointed judge cannot legally write law yet that is what has been allowed to happen in Canada.

    1. The judiciary has been writing laws in Canada since 1982… when… well, you know… Trudeau senior became a local folk hero by repatriating the constitution.

Thinking of changing my moniker to “FC – Not So VOWG.”

      1. Oh, it goes back well before that. The rule of law ended in this country under MacKenzie King. When they abolished appeals to the Privy Council, the Liberal judiciary could rule as they wished.

  4. Leblanc is part of the Liberal in-bred elite, From wikipedia…

LeBlanc was born in 1967, of Acadian descent, in Ottawa, Ontario, to Joslyn “Lyn” (née Carter) and Roméo LeBlanc, a former MP, senator and 25th governor general of Canada.

As a child, he baby-sat the children of then-prime minister Pierre Trudeau. He remained friends with Justin Trudeau and endorsed Trudeau’s candidacy for Liberal leader in 2012.

LeBlanc attended Lisgar Collegiate Institute for high school.[7] He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of Toronto (Trinity College), a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of New Brunswick, and then attended Harvard Law School, where he obtained his Master of Laws degree. LeBlanc worked as a barrister and solicitor with Clark Drummie in Shediac and Moncton. From 1993 to 1996, LeBlanc was a Special Advisor to the Prime Minister Jean Chrétien.

  5. A there’s nothing wrong with this. What’s wrong is the CuckPC won’t “stoop to their level” and instead do what the Liberals tell them to do with a little peer pressure from the media.

  6. Canada has created their own aristocracy. Politicians, lawyers, judges, senators, media and bureaucrats that are all related through bloodlines, language and place of birth. If you’re an english speaking person born west of Ontario and are not married into the new aristocracy then you aren’t included the club.

I think Alberta and Saskatchewan will only thrive once they accept that they will never be treated equally or fairly in Canada. The entrenched power structure intentionally excludes the economic concerns of our two provinces. The “two solitudes” of Quebec vs. ROC is a made up narrative because Quebec has more members in the Canadian aristocracy than any other province.

      1. Canada’s aristocrats are uniquely rancid though. I read a quote recently that describes Canada’s ruling class succinctly:

They demand the powers of kings but the accountability of toddlers.

  7. The Liberal Shit show continues with 63 million gone in ArriveCan!
This is the most corrupt government in the world!
