      1. Prof. Yasmin Akhtar, a sessional lecturer in the Faculty of Land and Food Systems …

A “sessional lecturer” whatever the hell that means …

Faculty of Land and Food Systems? Ohhhh I can tell you EXACTLY what that field of “study” does … it tears it all down ma’aaan. Yeah, it proposes, nay DEMANDS we return the land to nature … stop all modern agriculture … and revert to becoming hunter-gatherers. You don’t actually believe this is a STEM field of study that analyzes the biology and botany of growing food more abundantly and effectively? No. This field of “study” is designed to tear it all down ma’aaaan.

        1. “A “sessional lecturer” whatever the hell that means …”

Short term contract. May be full time, but is often part time. She teaches two undergraduate courses:

Introductory Topics in Applied Biology and Introduction to Entomology.

      2. “Prof. Yasmin Akhtar, a sessional lecturer”
Hired by the term to teach one or two classes so they don’t have to hire a fulltime instructor. The ‘Prof’ is by courtesy only. Second lowest rung on the academic ladder beyond teaching assistant. Don’t assume a Ph.D.

  1. I’d consider eating 2 day old roadkill or the mystery food at the back of my college kid’s refrigerator before I’d consider deliberately “incorporating” insects into my diet. These articles pushing insects appear on a fairly regular basis but I doubt they are convincing sane people. No more than articles promoting the benefits of eating horse manure will convince sane people to cook horse droppings.

    1. Note the hijab. Diversity hire pretending to be a professor for the propaganda machinery. And if you take into account housing and feeding bugs they average out to $600/kg of protein so it’s impossible that they produce less emissions than a cow that stays outside and eats grass producing beef that sells for less than $60/kg. And crickets fart too.

      1. Wouldn’t she get shot, stoned, and/or burned alive if she became a Professor in her homeland? But her garb suggests she is STILL an adherent to those archaic laws and culture. No wonder she wants us all to eat like it were still the 1300’s?

  2. Since when did a seasonal lecturer have the title “professor?” Professor is reserved for senior faculty, after being an Assistant Professor and then an Associate Professor, certainly NOT the proper title for a seasonal lecturer which can be held even by a Master’s degree student.

  3. You know, somewhere on this planet someone who describes themself as an expert/scientist is studying the adverse effects of cannibalism and developing a way to bypass those negatives.

    Food sources…..population control. Win/win. 😀 Abhorrent? Yes?

Well, here’s the thing. Scientists rarely consider “should” over “could.” And, I think we have ample proof of the outright insanity and delusional potential of various factions out there in today’s world. The mentally ill are being given status, encouragement, and control. What sort of decisions do you think they are capable of?

  4. “For normal sane people, eating insects triggers a disgust response. They’re justifiably thought of as dirty, and pests,” said me.

  5. Glossed over was a report not so long ago that crickets grown for food are contaminated to a large extent with parasites many of which are harmful to humans. This isn’t a way to feed people it’s a way to reduce them.

If insects trigger a disgust reaction after many millennia there must be a reason for it. Ancient wisdom and all that you know.

  6. I pulled up this woman’s citations and papers, and I’d estimate that over well 90% of everything she’s been involved in was centered around insecticides and not focused on using insects as food.

  7. The closest I’ll come to eating bugs is getting stung by a wasp or bee, honestly they sound like they need green deprograming.

  8. Let’s just talk about the elephant here for a second, shall we? A Muslim woman promoting the farming and eating of insects, in Canada, to Canadians. Who are non-Muslims, not to put too fine a point on it.

Is she going to feed HER kids on bugs? No. She’s not. She wants you to feed your kids the bugs while hers get beef. That’s what’s really going on here.

I’m quite content if the lady wants to eat bugs herself. Seriously, go to it.
But I’m not going to sit idle and watch her use the power of government to make -me- eat them.

  9. You know, all of these stories about how beef production is bad for the planet and how we should be eating more things like bugs has gotten me thinking…

So, anyway, after a lot of thought I have bumped up my order to 1/2 a steer this July instead of the 1/4 I got the last few years.

  10. They are already sneaking it into food like baked goods.

And god forbid that you are allergic, in the glories bug eating future, those people will “starve”

  11. Just wait til they release the Lone Star ticks to cause widespread alpha-gal red meat allergy in the population, in conjunction with their fake meat/bug protein push. Gonna get real.
