  1. I have questions as well. If it’s true I think we can rule out England from the list of possible suspects.
If you want to break up a riot in England, throw toothbrushes at them.

  2. As a joke, I bought my mom a battery operated back scratcher for a birthday years ago. They are ridiculous in their purpose. No one needs such a device. It’s an example of taking things beyond necessity and pretending it’s progress.

So, obviously, I had to look up what exactly a Smart Toothbrush might be. Simply put, it’s another “battery operated back scratcher”. It’s a status symbol for non-thinking adults who, apparently, cannot brush their teeth effectively without pressure levels, rotation totals, moisture readings etc. I have no doubt that the same people requiring Smart toothbrushes are also the intended recipients for the warnings on strawberry scented shampoo indicating that it is not edible.

    1. From the article:
“Fortinet warned of the dangers of smart devices, which can include web cams, baby monitors, doorbells and domestic appliances.”
None of this is necessary and have only limited capabilities. Stop using them…save your money.

      1. Well, the baby monitor one might be valid. If you want to keep an eye on the nanny or the babysitter from your phone. But, there would be the risk of a sophisticated burglar having a pretty easy time casing your stuff prior to entry, to say nothing of pedos.

    1. That was my reaction, JM.
This must be a joke, right? Nope.
Gives great confidence in online voting machines, doesn’t it?
(And really – if someone is so incompetent that they need a “smart” toothbrush, they probably should not be allowed to have teeth, anyway. They might hurt themselves.)

    2. With the absurdity of so much real news nowadaze, while it seems like fun, Babylon Bee creative work is probably a tough slog.

The word “smart” is on shaky irony laden ground.

  3. I still use my “dumb enabled” toothbrush. 🙂

    1. Word salad HANS
Those who have limited capabilities, need to adjusts their interaction with technology! And I see you’v done so, great job there WORD SALAD!

    2. Indeed. Until today, I knew of no other. And dumb I remain, because I can’t for the life of me figure out what possible features ‘smart’ would bring to a toothbrush.

      1. Hey, look. As an electrical engineer I can only applaud the use of complex electronics 9in all things. A baby alarm that wakes you when your baby’s dead; a microprocessor controlled brick with internet access. Does everything a normal brick does, but automatically. And the internet access allows you to remotely check all your bricks are there while on vacation.

The more electronics, the more work for me 🙂

  4. You could make a fortune selling Internet connected electronic nosepickers.

I’ve already applied to Trudeau and Biden for a grant to build a factory. I told them I’d use lithium batteries.

      1. Hey Gym

Two years ago I received a $150,000 grant from the Canadian government to study ways to improve the spreadability of butter.

        The good news?

        You helped pay for it!

  5. IoT is such a bad idea for any consumer with a iota of a brain. I avoid them as much as I can, and turn off the access on the ones I can’t.

      1. Same with smart watches. They have been able to determine all sorts of activities from the data gleaned from them including toilet habits.and sexual activities.

  6. L – “smart toothbrushes” hacked?
Their true purpose is to document the silver and gold fillings in your teeth and pass that data along. Then when you die, naturally or unexpectedly via the state mandated “heath” care.
Those precious metals will be seized by a new branch of e.i. Rev. Canada.

The new gov’t. dept. will notify all graveyards/crematoria/morticians to forward anything of
value in or on the deceased citizen directly to the newly amalgamated govt’. Dept. of the Leviathan.

If to qualify for gov’t. assisted death(formerly known as a crime against humanity), the
recipient has to sign an organ donation document. The above can simply be a O.I.C.
regulatory amendment. Outlawing the private possession of silver might fall under the
fed. dept. of the Environment, who declares werewolves an endangered species and
must therefore be protected from silver bullets.

If you claim to not even have seen such a creature. The fed Minister of Stupid Ideas
will reply “that proves how endangered they are”.

  7. I was just saying the other day a guy can’t be too careful around a Swiss toothbrush.

  8. This has been going on for a long with various devices. Routers and Webcam are the usual suspects. The hacker will coordinate a denial of service attack on a target by flooding it with pings from the botnet. Usually the devices that are part of the botnet have a common default login password.

  9. Today our toothbrushes, tomorrow our coffee pots.

“Do you want cream in your coffee Dave?” “I can’t do that Dave.” “What are you doing Dave?” “Stop Dave.” HAL9000

    1. On Christmas, wife got a coffee cup with an phone app feature for temperature control. We both laughed. She refuses to use it and it will likely be re-gifted this year… or end up “accidentally” broken.

  10. The article mentions an Internet connected mirror. Beyond my imagination and beyond my desire to research its why or how.

Don’t let that stop you from exploring the topic.
